I nearly didn't buy this because there is no reviews on Amazon. It looked a bit plastic and expensive. I am very glad I took the gamble, this gyroscope is great. The fly wheel is solid and heavy, which means it spins for ages. I had a traditional one when I was a kid, but this one is far better. A nice bit of engineering.

Can't go wrong with a gyroscope. They are fascinating. This is great for the money, although I did have to put it together myself: this involved bending the red frame in order to squeeze the rotating spindle into place. I thought it was going to break! Why on earth wasn't it already done when it left the factory? By the way, a spot of WD40 on the friction surfaces gets a longer run.

This is an excellent toy for kids and adults too.

It's a simple demonstration of one of the most important principles in physics, which makes it more fascinating. But even if you are not interested in the science behind it, it will keep you amazed for a while. I bought it initially for my 11 years old nephew, who enjoys a lot playing with it and learning new tricks. And I ended up buying one for me too! Now we have four.

This is a high quality product. It's well built and resistant, and requires little maintenance. However, I have noticed that some keep spinning longer than others. Instructions come in several languages, including English, Portuguese, Italian, French and Spanish.

I totally recommend it. It's fun and educational, and it's made in Europe.

Used lots of gyroscopes. When this one works it is great but seems to be hit and miss. This has the potential to be great but poorly made. You can see that the pins that hold the plastic spindle will eat into the plastic causing larger retaining holes and producing a cam effect. So, put a drop of oil on the pins.

It seems that nobody can make a decent gyroscope

I still liked it and young kids will like it and be oblivious to its shortcomings. On that basis I would buy it. Says full instructions but untrue. You have to squeeze the frame to place gyro in the pins.

Bought one for the grandson on the memories of those I had as a boy, this one worked but has poor balance and low flywheel weight which adds up to only a short running time. Bit of a dissapointing product !

Of all those available on-line at the moment, this appears to be better than most but it's still not the last word in durability given its target audience. My 8yo son loved it but it took him a while to learn how hard to pull the string so it balances for a decent duration - during which learning experience he dropped it a couple of times, and the gyro popped out of the cradle. Normally you can unwind the ends and wind them back in, but despite their being a threaded pin in the end, the plastic didn't appear to be similarly threaded. Not sure how it was assembled in the first place but it did eventually go back together with a lot of pulling and pushing.

And those end pins were not machined very well - a little vibration from some swarf or poorly cut surface exists.

Still, what do you expect for the money? Kids only play with them for 10 mins then they're bored and return to their computers.

This is a well made gyroscope that provides a good spinning time in which one can experiment with the wonders of angular momentum.

This is ok for the price. I suppose I'm comparing it with the all metal one I had as a kid and that's a very long time ago. The pull chord can be a bit fiddly, but it does what a gyroscope is supposed to do
