British author/nutritionist Marilyn Glenville PhD earned her degree from Cambridge University and is the former President of the Food and Health Forum at the Royal Society of Medicine, a registered nutritionist, psychologist, author, popular broadcaster and international speaker. As a respected author on women's healthcare she gives regular talks on radio and frequently appears on television and in the press. She is the author of 14 internationally bestselling books including Natural Alternatives to Sugar - Fat Around The Middle And How To Get Rid Of It - Getting Pregnant Faster - Natural Solutions To PCOS, Natural Solutions to Menopause, Boost Your Fertility, Osteoporosis and others. Dr Glenville won the Best Nutrition Health Writer of the year award and has been awarded a place in the prestigious directory of Who's Who of famous people. She works in Harley Street, London and Tunbridge Wells, Kent; and also has practices in Dublin, Cork and Galway in Ireland.

Marilyn’s inimitable writing style immediately endears her to her reader and electing to write about such controversial subjects as dementia and Alzheimers immediately captures our attention. Her style of writing is apparent in her Introduction – ‘Three things happen as you get older. The first is your memory goes – and I can’t remember the other two. That famous Norman Wisdom joke tickles us all – but it’s not such a laughing matter when memory loss starts to become a reality. Could it, we worry, be the first sign of Alzheimer’s or dementia? I have to admit that this has not been an easy book for me to write. In doing so, I have realised that Alzheimer’s or dementia has affected most of us (myself included) in some way; and it is a painful process.

Natural Solutions for Dementia and Alzheimer’s: The Ultimate Guide To Prevent Short Term Memory Loss by Dr. Marilyn Glenville PhD is simply one of the best books out there on the subjects of Dementia and Alzheimer's. Glenville covers so much ground in this book from diagnostics to diet, there is an almost overwhelming amount of information to digest. Just about everyone out there fears that as they age, they may be diagnosed with the insidious disease known as Alzheimer's. Just as tragic is a diagnosis of dementia. Even though both of these outcomes are hard to grapple with, Glenville offers ways to help prevent the diseases in the first place, and offers substantive, natural solutions that can help combat the disease as it progresses. From diet to herbal supplements to vitamins, there are a multitude of steps one can take to beat the odds of developing this ravaging disease. A must read for anyone who is getting up there in years, as well as family members who are caregivers to the elderly. Educate yourself about Alzheimer's and read this book to get informed and educated advice. Highly recommend.

I have to admit that this has not been an easy book for me to write. In doing so, I have realised that Alzheimer’s or dementia has affected most of us (myself included) in some way; and it is a painful process. Many of you reading this book will be concerned about relatives who may already be displaying symptoms; or, perhaps, they have already been diagnosed. Others of you may know that you have a strong family history of dementia and Alzheimer’s and that you need to start thinking about what changes you can make in your life to reduce your chances of developing the condition yourself. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Even though the medical world has not been very successful at treating dementia and Alzheimer’s, nutritional and lifestyle interventions have – but you have probably not heard about them! Unfortunately, unlike developing and selling a drug – a magic cure-all – patented by a pharmaceutical company, there is no big money in getting someone to change their diet. The result is that the information that could help so many people gets buried. And, because that information doesn’t make the headlines, the people who really need it – the sufferers and their carers, and all those who are potential sufferers – don’t get to know about what we can do to help ourselves or those close to us. I have written this book to share with you all the latest scientific research showing what we can do to help ourselves in a practical way to either prevent or reverse the decline in cognitive function that is caused by dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Marilyn writes so well that she allows the reader not only entry into understanding her topis but also insights that are more than just educational. Her book is in two parts- Part One - Understanding Dementia (Understanding your memory, Diagnosing dementia, What is Alzheimer’s?, Are you at risk?, Drug treatments and Part Two – Your 7 Step Brain Protection Plan (Your diet, Sugar and your brain health, Nutritional supplements, Exercise, Stress and sleep, Your environment, Brain training, and finally Testing, testing…And she ends her book with a simple questionnaire to determine if we are headed towards Alzheimer’s.

Thorough, accessible, solid information form a trusted expert, Dr. Marilyn Glenville shares information so vitally important to each of us. Highly Recommended. Grady Harp, April 17

4.0 out of 5 stars It’s amazing how much progress we have made so far 22 April 2017

It’s amazing how much progress we have made so far, but we are only scratching the surface, there is still so much to know and learn.
This is a common fear for anybody who knows or may have heard about the disease, but we are referring to not only the loss of your memory but also a lot more of risks. This book is simple and yet completely unique, who would have guessed that changing a few aspects of our lives will improve our health and (if) we have the gene we can slow down its progress?
This is an incredibly book with natural solutions for you to fight, to resist the consequences that it carries such disease, it’s definitely not something you want to experience and not everyone are able to fight against it, but still I recommend this book for those to be aware or if for any reason already happened, with this book you know what to do.
