In terms of content then this cd is very good, easily gaining 5 stars. But I have been listening to Bob Marley And The Wailers since I was 11 or 12 years old and so I have about 20 cds by them and I can honestly say that the best compilation album to buy would be Songs of Freedom. It is more expensive but on the 4 discs, you get a much better overview of the career of the best band the world has ever seen (and heard).
But this cd does contain some great songs. The standouts on this disc would be Crazy Baldheads, So Much Trouble In The World, War, Sun Is Shining and One Drop. There are some other great songs here and none of them will make you want to skip them, it's just Songs of Freedom does it more comprehensively than any one disc cd can.

With the seminal greatest hits collection Legend, released in 1984, selling in excess of 15 million copies (and counting), some might be tempted to say that a second collection of Bob Marley and the Wailers' songs would be a pale comparison. But they would be wrong. Released in 1995, Natural Mystic - the Legend Lives on contains some of their best work. While Legend was mainly an assortment of their more commercial tunes and big singles, Natural Mystic is a round-up of their standout album tracks.
The opening song and title track, which is also the opening song on the hugely successful Exodus album (it remained on the British chart for 56 straight weeks after release and gave them their first top 10 hit with Jamming), fades in hypnotically and you know that you just have to listen. As usual, Bob has plenty to say, whether it be about social and political injustice, or simply about the power of reggae music to strike a chord with the heart of the listener. Sometimes, though, he uses his songs to pay homage to his beloved herb, as with Easy Skanking, the opener to 1978's Kaya album.
His contempt for the dominant exploitative political regimes of the day is summed up in Crazy Baldheads, a song taken from the politically-charged Rastaman Vibration album of 1976. Taken from the same album and continuing this theme is War, the lyrics of which are taken from a speech given to the UN in 1968 by Emperor Haile Selassie, whom Rastafarians believed to be the living incarnation of God, or Jah. Africa Unite is a call for all Africans to return to their "father's land", which Bob and the Wailers later played to a capacity crowd at Zimbabwe's Independence Ceremony at the official invitation of the country's Governor, in 1980.

I bought a few Marley albums this week and this is one of them. Didn't even know it existed. The tracklist is awesome. Can't wait to play So Much Trouble In The World which, when I first knew it, I found it was a B-Side to one of his huge singles. Can't quite remember which one, now. Easy Skanking makes another appearance. I first new that from the Kaya album. Gorgeous record. Natural Mystic, I have two versions of: one, an early recording; plus the Island Records' version from Exodus. It's here as well. Iron Lion Zion is another mammoth song I first heard at my hospital radio station as a 7" and 12" single! This album is worth getting for the songs I haven't heard yet, and there are loads. With 16 songs to listen to, you'll be upbeat in no time. Marley is the all-cure for the blues! Stick this on and start smiling.
