This book tells NOTHING about survival skills of Native Americans! Instead it should be called "Native American Arts & Crafts". It is full of nicely painted and printed plates, short descriptions (with little detail) showing you how to make your own leather costume, beadwork necklace, moccasins and such, but there are much better books on these subjects out there.

I love this book! Its got crucial info about making lots of Native American crafts, tools, clothes and even weapons. Essential for anyone interested in furthering their Native American heritage or just interested in learning different arts and crafts! I'd give it 10 stars if I could!!

HASH(0xa200ffcc) out of 5 stars Don't buy the Kindle edition. 5 July 2012
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com

The best part of anything by Ben Hunt is his illustrations, which are all you need to follow the project.
Unfortunately because of the limitations of the Ebook format, the illustrations, while included, are too small to garner any useful information from.

Waste of 99 Cents...

HASH(0xa2178690) out of 5 stars Wonderful Book 1 Mar. 2012
By Franklin Eddy - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This is the same book as The Complete How-To Book of Indiancraft: 68 Projects for Authentic Indian Articles from Tepee to Tom-tom. However, the illustrations are in color instead of black and white. I bought both the print copy and the Kindle copy. I like reading it on my Kindle, but when I want to look at the illustrations and to make something, it is easier to use the print copy.

I first saw this book in the '50s when I was in a boy scout group that did Indian dances. We had to make our own costumes and learn dances. We put on Indian dances for the public. This was in Denver, CO, and I think the group was the Medicine Pipers.

For anyone interested in Indian crafts, this is a great book.

HASH(0xa2178b28) out of 5 stars This Should be Titled "Native American Arts and Crafts Skills" 31 July 2012
By ZenKyoki - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
While packed with fairly valuable information if you're interested in history and lore of the native american cultures, this is not by any means a "survival skills" book. If you're looking on information about making moccasins, this is the right place, but if you're interested in learning how native american cultures carved a living from nature for thousands of years, this won't help much.

HASH(0xa1f13ef4) out of 5 stars Decent book, misnamed 10 Feb. 2013
By Indiana James - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
This book has NOTHING to do with survival skills. It should be called "How to simulate several native american crafts via a garage workshop." The pictures and diagrams are reproductions of hand drawings and the font is hard to read on Kindle, even zoomed in. Otherwise I'd have given it 3 stars because a lot of the projects are "cool."
