This is not the usual "Run of the Mill" Cookbook. No arty photographs to aspire to, just a few sketches, compared with the likes of Jamie, Delia etc. However it is a refreshing change not to have to wade through loads of commentary about how you should or should not do things. What you get are a decent amount of recipes that are set out clearly and simply. Most recipes only take up half a page or so and the ingredients are set out clearly on the left handside. The methods are nice and simple- very easy to follow and the results are great! Most of the recipes sound very tempting and it's one book where I've thought I'd like to have a go at most things and not the odd one. No Pacific Rim stuff here I'm afraid, just basic, good old fashioned cooking with lots of good ideas- also quite a few vegetarian options and lots of Puddings and cakes- The Toffee Apple Crumble on P.94 is worth buying the book for alone. Enjoy!

A great collection of English recipes. I am enjoying trying them out and remembering food I enjoyed on my trip to Great Britain.
