From the Inside Flap
See the best of Barcelona with this streamlined walking guide, complete with 15 step-by-step itineraries and maps, to help you explore the city like a pro and navigate like a local. Created in a handy, take-along format, this guide is written by a seasoned travel writer to help conjure the spirit of the place in elegant text enhanced by National Geographic's famous eye for good pictures. More than just a guidebook, Walking Barcelona is full of information about the city and its people. The guide is divided into the following sections: THE WHIRLWIND TOURS section shows you how to see the entire city in a day or a weekend; what sites will interest kids most; plus, a hedonist's tour that's pure pleasure from dawn to midnight and beyond. THE NEIGHBOURHOODS section of the book presents the city broken down into 15-odd itineraries that lead you on a step-by-step tour to the best sites in each of the city's greatest neighborhoods-from Ciutat Vella and Barceloneta to Barri Gotic and the Rambla to the Eixample and Uptown and beyond. Each itinerary includes such special features as Distinctly Barcelona, highlighting quintessential aspects of the city (Gaudi, the Catalunyan language, and soccer); Best Of, providing specific thematic groupings of sights, such as small museums, tapas bars, and street markets; and "in-depth" spreads that take a deep dive into a major museum or other iconic sight along the route.

Book is divided into sections eg. B for fun, B in a weekend, B for foodies as well as areas (Neighbourhood Walks) eg. La Rambla, On the waterfront, La Sagrada to Park Guell.
Good descriptions, informative and easy to read especially to plan your trip. We used taxi's (inexpensive), buses (cheap) and walked (free). However maps not brilliant as they are divided up into small areas. Best used with a full fold out Barcelona map which is easily available when you get there. There is a small map of the whole of Barcelona in the front cover but it is pretty useless.
You could of course download google maps of the areas you are interested in.
