5.0 out of 5 starsHistory is alive in this book...and makes you want to learn more!
ByAmy Deniseon 18 December 2012 - Published on Amazon.com
The concise and informative way this text delivers historical facts is superb. Each page is illustrated in a way that invites its readers in; young and old. Had this been my history text when I was in school, I'd know a lot more about the events covered than I do now. My twelve year old son enjoys the short sections, and for me, as his teacher, the rapidity with which the sections are read leaves plenty of time for further exploration of topics covered.
4.0 out of 5 starsA Great Condensed World-History Resource
ByMariniteon 16 September 2014 - Published on Amazon.com
I like the content of this book and the way it's organized and illustrated, but I failed to note the dimensions and thought it was going to be a much larger, "coffee table" size book (the reasonable price should have tipped me off to the size). Wish it were a larger size, because in a more generous format, it would have done justice to the great photos. Still, it's a fine condensed world-history resource, whether you read it in long bouts or just dip into it as time allows. I don't know much about how kids are educated today, but when I was in middle school, this book wouldn't have been beyond my comprehension and appreciation, and though I'm now much older and better versed in history, I still find this a great book that fills some serious gaps in my history education. I'd say it's suitable for students and history buffs from middle-school age and well over.

5.0 out of 5 starsNational Geographic Almanac of World History, 2nd Edit

This almanac if full of information and pictures without being boring. It is brief and covers the many main events in world history. The book is well made and is a good refresher for those out of school.

I have to admit - I am a little addicted to these types of books from National Geographic and DK. They are like channel surfing - just enough information to get you what you "need" to know, but leaving it to you to research further (since they can't fit it ALL into one book). Love it!
