I'm happy to have been given the opportunity to read an advance copy of the third novel in "The Bridesmaid's Checklist" series. It's been many months since I last read Book Two, so I'd nearly forgotten what this new tale quickly reminded me of: The series is undoubtedly for adults only, with a level of raunchiness that may be too intense for even some of those readers. On my part, I don't entirely mind my literature being provocative in that regard.
I'll admit, however, my eyes bulged seeing Book Three elaborate on a sordid experience in narrator Kassie's college days (mentioned in Book One). While I say Kassie is the narrator, some parts of the text took more of a third-person point of view, yet my adjusting to that switch wasn't all too difficult. As did the prior novels, this sequel leaped back and forth across a seven-year span in the lives of five gal pals, with emphasis on the title character.
In fact, this book picked up on Book Two's cliffhanger, and Natalie's storyline became a parallel to that of Kassie. I enjoyed escaping into the drama-fest kicked up by the cast of characters, and I learned something of the challenges of a May-September romance. True to life, not all turned out rosy, but I was intrigued by the surprises, and I got some hearty laughs along the way -- Kassie's observation on "chopped liver" unexpectedly left me in stitches!
