Suspend all rational thought!!The film was great, the soundtrack was better. O.K. so I'm a committed Cronenberg fan, but the music from Naked Lunch was it. Howard Shore's orchestrations are superb (very dark and brooding), whilst Ornette Coleman noodles away over it all with the most beautiful sounds you are ever likely to hear. Coleman's trio also get a look-in, along with some vaguely moroccan sintir and nai playing on a couple of tracks. Believe me, if you are into atmospheric engaging experiences, then get this at all costs!

its a weird film and the soundtrack helps that a lot, if there is a genre called disconcerting jazz then here one of its finest. luxuriant in its freeform oddness.
i'd really recomend this album to anyone who likes a bit of diversity in their jazz collection.
