Naked - As Nature Intended [VHS]
This ground-breaking film from UK sex-film pioneer Harrison Marks caused a sensation in the early Sixties with its frank displays of nudity. Filmed in the style of 'Health and Efficiency' magazines and a travelog, Marks used a holiday to a nudist camp in Cornwall as an excuse to show as much bare female flesh as he could get away with.

While investigating the beaches at Bedruthan. Pamela Green's character unknowingly stumbles onto a private beach belonging to a Naturist Club, and finds Angela and Bridget, both naked, lying on the sand. Shock, Horror! However, they convince her that there is nothing wrong with the nude body. She calls to her two companions to come over and join the two girls. They talk to their new friends and are soon persuaded to join the club. Pam, Petrina and Jacky throw away their bikinis. The girls then get a tour of the nudist camp, in this case Spielplatz Sun Club in St. Albans - hardly Cornwall. But all great fun anyway. Pamela was a famous Pinup of the sixties and fifties. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of video's with sexual content masquerading as nudism, but a bit of nudism in one supposed to be nudist would be a good idea.
Or maybe it was compulsory in the 60's for all nudists to carry carefully draped towels so that no one saw pubes or genitals.
You see breasts, complete with nipples..., bare buttocks, and a lot of the English countryside.
To see the nudes you go through the first three quarters of the film with a trip from London to Cornwall.
I can understand why this appealed to the dirty mac brigade in the cinemas of the 60's, but with todays more sophisticated audiences its more of a memorabilia item than a true guide to nudism.
We have here an amateur travelogue with pretty female accoutrements; the music is bolted on as are various sound effects, and a professional commentary added - in this case by Guy Kingsley-Poynter who many will recall as Doc in the radio series "Journey into Space" (coincidentally available on cassette, now you could have bought that couldn't you? don't you wish you had?).
It's pretty. Time has given it a period charm and the everyday world used as backdrop holds nostalgia in every street sign and quaint old shop. But it must be said that you will probably end up as I did, marvelling at the way the Buick driven by the girls wobbles and wallows like a pregnant hippo, its shock absorbers clearly powerless to cope with British tarmac (why, what did you think my title referred to? Did you? Slap your wristies baaaad boy).
You don't see any naughty bits until two thirds into the film, mostly rear and three quarter distant views, intercut with facial closeups resolutely excluding everything below the clavicle (look it up).
If you want a laugh, a nostalgic look at what nudie movie makers could get away with, a look at the backdrops of 40+ years ago and perhaps a tear in the collective eye, buy this tape.
If you want anything else, I recommend something stronger from the 1970's like "Eskimo Nell" which is a good comedy as well as having, well, erotic piccies.
