My sister recently bought this in New York for my 5 year old niece. The fairy takes 6 AA batteries (not included in the one we got), and supposedly takes 30 minutes to charge. You also need a very small star shaped screwdriver to open the base for the batteries. The fairy takes off but only lasts a short time, about 2 goes for a minute or two, and mostly crashes into the ceiling or ground. There's a technique to make it hover, but it's difficult to learn because the battery runs low very quickly. So basically, the fairy spends more time charging and not taking off properly rather than "flying". It's okay for a very short thrill for kids, but personally I think it's over priced for what you get.

The Flutterbye Fairy flies alright but absolutely where it wants too. Crashes all the time with a thud. Didn't even last until the end of Christmas day. Wouldn't recommend.

In 10 years of parenting this is the worst toy we've bought our children. It worked for 30 seconds then we couldn't get it to charge enough to fly again. DO NOT BUY. It's absolutely rubbish!

Very disappointing product. Exactly one of those toys that looks fabulous in the ads and causes a lot of disappointment to the child.
My child never plays with it and it will go to Oxfam shortly! I should have known better!

Do not buy this product! It is really hard to control and then veers off and crashes in to the wall. I had no problem with batteries as I bought powerful one's and I did test before Christmas. I thought that with a bit of practice it would be fun, but my daughter cried so much that it's gone back in the box. I'm planning to return it and complain to the manufacturer for the misleading advert.

Great excitement on christmas morning.....flew first time and was actually pretty amazing , our daughter loved it. Didn't crash badly just dropped to the carpet. But never flew again . Have no idea why , it just stopped working . tried changing batteries, charging all to no avail. Drama all round when child asked why Santa gave her a toy that was broken. Tears etc etc..... How to return a toy to the North Pole was much discussed. Amazon will be getting a package from us. Really disappointed

on Christmas eve... what more can I say? It does need to be set up and worked by the parents if your child is younger than 5, as the liklihood of a younger child hurting themselves, or aiming the fairy through a glass cabinet are fairy high. In fairness the product is clearly marked as for 5 and above, but I could not resist getting it for my grandaughter. The delight factor for a 3 year old with a love of fairies however, you simply could not put any price upon.

I have to give one star, but not even worth that! This is so not like the advert!! I had to buy two of these things for my 7 and 5 year old daughters for Christmas 2013. They were charged and flew up, crashed into the ceiling and never flew the same again. The girls said they were a bit rubbish, yes very! They are very over priced and a major let down. Please do not buy, you will just waste your hard earned cash! We had far more success and pleasure from the Glitzi Globe sets, and cheaper.
