Simply Brilliant Little Tablet, All the Rave reviews are justified!
EDIT: 12/04/12, took the plunge and updated my older version (from January, supplied with gingerbread) to Ice Cream Sandwich, pleased to say it makes a good little device even better, battery life and wifi both seem improved and video performance is better too with no lip sync issues now from any source, my review below is less relevant now as the ICS update on the newer devices means it doesn't refer to what is being supplied today, I've left here for archive interest only. Also, just a note, I've no problem with people commenting on this review, but if you have tech support questions, I don't know everything and can't help you all!, you will likely get more help by posting to the forums for this device (linked from the product page, usually at the bottom somewhere)---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------EDIT: 08/04/12, still happy with mine, my review was based on the older Gingerbread software version, the version being sold now has Ice Cream Sandwich so many of my points are no longer relevant, you should bear that in mind when reading.EDIT: 29/01/12, All below holds true for my tablet and I'm still very happy with it, but some of the more recent later shipments are seemingly of a slightly different unit, not sure how they compare for performance as I've only got my one, the spec is almost identical for the different ones but there are some physical and software differences, and in forums, users have different issues dependent on Firmware/Tablet version, price has also shifted up by about 10% since I bought mine, bear this in mind for context.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Bought this after using parent's iPad over xmas and enjoying the tablet experience but really didn't want to shell out £400+ for the privilege, This device will do 90%+ of what an iPad will do (and some things an iPad can't, flash websites and homescreen widgets for starters, HDMI output doesn't require an extra £40 adapter either!) for only 25% of the price... pretty good deal I think!Others have made many good and positive points here already, so rather than repeat many of them again, (they are all true!, the tablet is really well built and stylish for the money, it copes with all the games and apps I've thrown at it etc. etc.) I'll simply add some extra info to what others have posted and try to answer some of the points others have made:1) SKYPE, not actually a big deal for me, I rarely use it, but since people had said it didn't work I tried to get it going for the challenge, the version pre-installed is not the latest available and it won't update from the market (wouldn't for me anyway) BUT, if you can get a copy of a newer skype apk elsewhere, (I got version "2.6.0.95 v13 beta", google it!) then it works, including video calling! (this took me about 10 mins to sort out in total, not difficult at all if you are vaguely tech minded)2) File management, someone else already suggested using "ES File Explorer", it is really easy to browse the file structure in that, and it also can access files on your LAN network (if you have NAS or shared drive on PC etc) what isn't immediately obvious is that the external SD, if you have one is mounted as /mnt/extern_sd (in Favourites in ES File explorer) also media on that card isn't picked up by the gallery/music apps on the device until you power off (fully, not just into standby) then back on, the card is then scanned and the cache of those apps updates3) The Pre-Installed games really show the device off well (Samurai and Fruit ninja are great) other games can be easily loaded from the market4) Mine has 8GB of built in memory (1GB available for apps, 5-6GB as "SD-CARD storage") despite being advertised as having just 4GB ;)5) The beauty of this device is that whilst the interface doesn't look as polished as an iPad out of the box, because it is Android it is as configurable as you like: If you have a modicum of patience you can make this device's interface look really pretty using "Go Launcher EX" or similar from the market (it is free) to replace the standard launcher and installing a clock/weather widget etc, I have set it up to have a grid of 6x6 (allowing 36 apps per page instead of the default 16 as supplied in standard android launcher) the processor copes just fine with the overhead and it transforms the look to something much more polished (more iPad like, especially if you install the "classic" theme), Go launcher has widgets available for Facebook/Twitter etc that are very well implemented and it is fully customisable with different screen transition animations etc. try it, you don't need to be a programmer just willing to push and pull some icons around and you will be rewarded with a really nice user interface (edit: I added a couple of pics to the listing so you can see)6) The latest android market apk IS worth getting as it now has movies and books in it as well as games/apps (despite comments I've seen that the latest market might be slow it works perfectly and quickly for me and looks much more polished than the old version that is pre-installed) Again you will need to google this and download the apk from a website somewhere7) Wifi connection was no problem at all, found and connected within 30s of powering up and it always reconnects for me from standby within a second or so, WiFi range does seem a little limited, not a problem for me as I use it in same room as router or room above, both are fine, but may be an issue if your router is at other end of house. EDIT 1: I did start experiencing the problem with wifi not reconnecting after sleep, but the "advanced wifi locker" app from market that others had found fixed this easily: EDIT 2: That app eats battery life while device in standby though!, I found setting a fixed IP solves problem too and I can turn the App off again...8) Not seen anyone else mention that the device charges via its mini USB port as well as from the power port, useful if out and about as you don't have to take the mains charger with you, just hook up via USB to a PC or phone charger (mini usb leads are reasonably ubiquitous, there is one in the box if you don't have one already)9) I also bought the case with inbuilt keyboard, it fits the tablet well and the keyboard works fine, good for the priceAll in all, this has to be one of the best gadget bargains I've ever bought, I'm already considering buying a second one for my wife, really can't recommend it highly enough, happy tableting! Can't see how anyone could be seriously disappointed with this for £10 more than a Kindle, you can even install the Kindle app on it and read books on it anyway...

Hi
I must say the delivery was fantastic as it was indicated that the device would not be delivered before xmas and it arrived today.
The screen is good especially for the price of the device, may be not up there with the big guns but just as good as my htc hero. I played some of the demo videos which looked good but that would be expected for demo videos but have yet to try it with my own.
The touch screen is responsive and I think very good for the price; as good as if not better response than my oldish HTC phone. Scrolling is responsive up, down, left and right.
The camera appears good enough for what it is, I cant understand why people complain about lower mega pixel cameras on tablets they will never be used like a normal digicam and will never match DSLRs anyway. So I think it is more than good enough not great in low light but neither is my webcam on my PC, so no complaints from me.
It comes with US Android market as its in dollars. (If there is a way to change it to UK please post on here).
Connection to my wireless router was flawless and works through out my house. Found more wireless networks than my PC does.
Apps it comes with
Adobe reader
Aldiko
Angry birds works great
Documents to go
email
Gmail
Fruit ninja
Game centre
Super-HD player
SWF player
Youtube
Talk a google application
Trial X
A couple of chinese apps
Latitude
Places
Clock Browser
Calculator
Calendar
file manager
music
Voice search

and a few widgets which are accessed by touching and holding you finger on a blank part of the screen which opens a menu to add shortcuts, widgets, apps etc.

Sound is actually quite good and loud which surprised me.

All the apps were easy to set up for email, skype and network.

The manual is in chinese there is no english manual in the box I have.

Over all I think its a great machine. Ill post more as I get more use to it. Its a present for an 80 something so Ill need to show them how everything works.

Google maps works on this device as does navigation
Ive put on
Fring
3 mp3 player

skype voice calls work still trying to get video to work as its a gift and that was one of the reasons I wanted a tablet
if anyone knows how to get it working post it here again. Selecting the video option in the skype settings just gives black screens where the video should be.

Access to the internet is pretty good i.e. speed.
I only received this today and it looks like you way more than 2 hours of use even with the wifi switched on. When I know about that Ill amend this. Looks like it will be about 3-4 hours. Its now been running for 2.hours 45 minutes and the battery indicator is indicating Ive still have the charge left. I think thats pretty good.

I really got this for video skype so if anybody knows how to get it working please that information.
Even if video doesnt work I would still give 5 stars as it was not quoted as working in the description and we will still be keeping the device with or with out video calling.

I give this the thumbs up, if your new to tablets and video calling isnt a must have. I dont think that you can do better than this especially for use around the home especially if your on a budget.

This all sounds very positive I know the only downside at the minute is video calling on skype but thats not enough to knock a star off as no claim was made about that by the seller.

If I come across any issues Ill post them here. Im going to try BBC iplayer to see how that works.

*Edit to my original review, which ill leave in because it may be valuable. Wendy got in touch and offered me some advice, which was very appreciated. She gave me a link to a fix for the store problem, which i had tried previously, but now worked(magic). So i now have all the apps.

Secondly, although still not mega fast, and i still get the 'launcher / app isnt responding, wait / exit' annoyance, its not quite as bad as when i had ADW launcher installed. naughty ADW launcher! Stick with stock, and you should get a far less annoying experience.

I should have known its trial and error with android, but after a week of error, i had given up. Give Wendy a shout if you're having problems, think she must have waved a magic wand at me or something like that.

So i've upped it to a four star, its stil not a five star and no amount of magic wand waving will convince me otherwise :)

*Edit 2

Ok, so i've had the tablet three weeks now. And i finally figured the real reason why it was turning into a rather slow brick on a regular basis. It really doesnt like to use the sync function. turned this off and its suddenly turned into a wizzy machine. So if you can live without your emails being pushed through, then its all good. I can, doesnt bother me in the slightest because i have my phone for this. p.s, if you're going to use a launcher, use Go launcher, its brilliant. I love ADW launcher on my samsung galaxy, but Go is much better for this tablet. Right, thats my last update, after lots of tinkering, it finally works they way i had envisioned it to. 4/5, superb value for the money just be prepared for trial and error.

*original review

There's so many 5 star reviews on here that just arent justified. Ok, its cheap, but i still expect not to want to chuck the thing through a window every five minutes. I've constantly sat there waiting for the device to catch up with what im doing "blah blah is not working, would you like to close the programme?" Grr.

Not to mention the Google Play store, where loads of apps are missing because 'your device is not compatible'. I couldnt get the Facebook app, even Angry Birds wasnt compatible for crying out loud! Ive tried every fix under the sun in the last week, none of them worked. So ive ended up having to use the Bazaar market, just to get apps that i've previously bought and downloaded for my Samsung Galaxy S2. I get the feelings its actually because the device comes pre rooted, and juding by the Google Movies app which wont let me rent movies because the device is rooted, Google dont like one bit.

On the upside, the tablet does look nice, is relatively light and works without stalling most of the time. Delivery time was exceptional, ordered it last Friday afternoon and it came the next day.

I will use the tablet, i will enjoy using it for reading books and watching tv shows, but i cant help feeling slightly disapoined. just be warned its not as amazing as all the five star reviewers would have you beleive.
