The Greek island was beautiful and the holiday idyllic... until James Barratt and his girlfriend Penny Ward, were told about the chimera, a savage creature that should only have existed in Greek Mythology, but somehow was still alive in the foothills of the island.

However, the story races along and it pulled me in immediately. I felt sorry for the young holidaying couple whose lives are destroyed by their desire to see the mythical creature rumoured to be living in the hills. I particularly enjoyed the main character's fight with the invading chimera - and his gradual metamorphosis into the ferocious creature.
All in all, a very good read, although I wish the author had toned down the graphic violence a bit. And although I'm no prude, I don't feel that detailed, explicit sex scenes are necessary in a good book.
Tricked and trapped by villagers and attacked by a mythical chimera, the woman becomes comatose and the man becomes monstrously ferocious as he fights for his sanity and for his freedom.
In many ways Myth reminded me of a cross between Clive Barker's Nightbreed and An American Werewolf in London, and I'd recommend this novel to anyone who likes their fantasy dark, bloody and sexually charged.
