The Dales Detective Agency’s latest assignment appears to be an open and shut case. Hired by a local solicitor to find a death certificate for a young woman who died over twenty years ago, Samson O’Brien is about to find out that things in Bruncliffe are rarely that straightforward. Samson and Delilah are strong lead characters, story well written and would recommend reading the stories in order. Tolpuddle the dog provides an injection of humour. Hoping the next instalment resolves the cloud hanging over Samson with his job as an undercover policeman.

Makes sense if you read books 1 & 2 in the Dales Detective series first, I have really enjoyed all three and can easily see them being made in to a tv series as long as they don’t water down the story. Reminds me of the Morse series, well written and an ongoing background theme.

Number three was a good read

After my initial hesitation after book 2 in the series, I’m glad I persevered and read this one too. They are well written and you can clearly imagine both the main characters and the scenery. I guessed the ending again but this time it didn’t seem to spoil my enjoyment too much. I can also imagine them being made as a TV series, probably shown as a Sunday night family drama.
