This is now the fifth book I am reading by Mike Wells and once again it doesn't disappoint. The only thing so far that his books have in common are that they are gripping thrillers with suspense. However they are all set in different genres, we have had Horror with 'Baby Talk' and now this one which I would classify as Science Fiction. Alot of research has gone into the book of a scientific nature as is evident from the many discussions between Dr Kramer and his scientist friends. In fact the book has also sparked deep discussions between myself and my husband who has a scientific background in this area on the nature of a multi-dimensional universe and other things mentioned and whether they are possible or not. It has all been deeply enlightening and intriguing to me for which I have the author to thank :)

This book is a pleasant surprise, I am not used to reading anything of a sci-fi nature but this one had me gripped from start to finish. The story is set on the Island of Aruba, a Caribbean Island off the coast of Venezuela. Dr Kramer, his wife Sally and their two sons - Kurt and Mitch, their friends Rachel and Lance all go to the Island for a vacation and to celebrate Kurt's birthday. While he makes a wish and blows out the candles, he sees a mysterious light and moving object outside which looks like a meteor. Curiosity gets the better of Kurt and the other boys and they all go to the beach to look for it against Rachel's better judgement. The tampering of the mysterious object results in Kurt disappearing into the deep blackness of it via an opening and he ends up in what appears to be another Dimension.

What then results is a frightening attempt by everyone to make sense of what happened and convince Kurt's parents of what actually occurred.

I choose this rating cause the suspense of this book was great, it captured your imagination and the suspence when the boy was in that cocoon, and the way he could communicate with them first through the tv and then the laptop it was amazing
the chase of the van to get the cocoon back and how the girl got the cocoon back from the government and the way she was pleading with kurt to come back or he would be lost forever,it was most touching,

I enjoyed both book 1 and 2 of this series. I was compelled to buy the second book as I desperately wanted to know what happened to Kurt, and join Rachel, along with Kurt's family and his fathers' friends to find out if Kurt escapes or survives his ordeal. Another great read! Mike Wells, what amazing writing yet again!
