This book was extremely well written and the story was the complete opposite of what I expected. The cover said sweet contemporary romance and whilst it was, there was also intrigue, suspicion and heartbreak as the story crosses countries and continents as the characters fight to find their HEAs.
If you don't like stories about cheating then don't even pick this book up. Whilst telling the story of an affair, it is not wholly about selfish, gratuitous feelings but more of hope in the face of desperation as Mischa tries to find a way out of a loveless marriage. Whilst the way she went about it is wrong, and acknowledged so by the writer in the story, it is a portrayal of possibilities beyond the four walls of a perceived perfect marriage.
Given the opportunity to head to Italy for work, Mischa quickly sees this as an opportunity to experience more out of life. With a plan for a one night stand; a quick release in order to feel again, Mischa doesn't expect what she finds in Tal. Saving her from herself, he quickly assumes the role of lover and gives Mischa everything she ever wanted from her husband, and more.
Whilst you expect the story to meander between these two characters as they find themselves in each other you wonder where the plot will head to and then you take a journey down an completely unexpected path into one of deceit, violence and corruption as Mischa quickly realises that her business trip isn't what she expected it to be.
As expected, once the affair becomes public, Mischa's husband doesn't take the news well and Mischa's story becomes one of heartbreak as she is spurned by her friends and family.Read more ›
This is my first time reading Stylo’s work although I am aware of her Degradation series and the great reviews they get. So naturally was curious about this and I always like to start with a standalone. I have to say I quite like the style of this authors work and really did enjoy MTIT. The second half of this book appealed to me so much more than the first half due to the pace and the direction that the story took. I finished it wishing the whole book could have been like that all the way through. We start off with a relationship between a husband and wife going south and an affair ensuing. But what we ended up with was a little bit more than that story due to Tal, the man that Mischa has the affair with.
It’s a risky subject to write about, a lot of readers express their dislike at cheating and affairs etc. but I think that this was handled with real honesty. This plot line doesn’t keep me away from a good book. It wasn’t a story where feelings were spared and I immensely enjoyed that angle to it. I did feel a little uncomfortable around the beginning of the book, going through Mischa’s feelings for her husband, because let’s face it, some things she thought I’m sure many other women have thought too. It often mirrors our own real lives in some particular way. And that hits a little too close to home.
I didn’t write any review notes for this as I found it captivated me enough for it to be a straight through read. Good story, great reveal of Tal over two scenes which I very much appreciated, it didn’t come all at once so you had that suspenseful wait knowing something was off. The scene with Mischas husband at the beach and beyond is quite impactful and I found this was the first of many shock scenes to come despite them being rather late in the book. I would recommend this, it’s a good read that’s a little bit different…and oh, if you don’t like cheating, this is not for you I’m afraid.
This is not your normal story of cheating and I'm sure a lot of women will identify with Misha's story.
There may even be a few that have been in this situation.
The Affair was planned by Misha, being married to your best friend and not have a sexual relationship, feeling low with self esteem for these reasons she went looking for the affair.
Along comes Tal full of sex appeal mysterious and full of dirty talk.
it is agonising and heart breaking for all.

“Worse than falling in love. Worse than hating someone. Falling out of love was much, much harder.”
I have to admit that this was my first read by this author and I can honestly say it won’t be my last. I loved everything about this book, from the characters, the settings, to the plot and the style of writing. This book was so different from the norm and I personally found it so relatable. Yes, this is a book about a person that cheats, but unfortunately cheating is real to life and it does happen, but really, cheating is not what this book is about, it is so much deeper than that. This book is about taking stock of your life, reflection and having the guts to do something about it. While the character in this book may not go about it the right way, sometimes you never know when you are going to meet “The One” and more often than not it happens when you least expect it.
“When something feels so good, you find a way to convince yourself that it’s okay.”
As you can gather from the blurb Mischa had all intentions of having a one night stand. Even though it is not an excuse, her husband had been distant, both day to day and in the bedroom, she felt unwanted and unloved. Mischa just wanted to “feel” something even if it was for just one night. However, what Mischa did not anticipate, was finding “The One.” That intentional “One Night Stand” became so much more.
“It would’ve been depressing, if his tongue hadn’t felt so good, if his fingers hadn’t felt so amazing. They erased everything. Her past, her future, her present. Gone, with one thrust. All that existed was this man, this room, this bed.Read more ›
