HASH(0x9aee9024) out of 5 stars things go from bad to worse for Caitlin 26 Oct. 2014
By cthrasher - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Caitlin Conner is a shy, artistic teen. She has spent her entire life being compared to her popular older sister, Carly. When Carly dies in a car accident, things go from bad to worse for Caitlin. While dealing with the loss of their daughter , Caitlin's parents can't see beyond their own grief. This leaves Caitlin more alone than ever. However, this all changes when she begins a friendship with Dylan Rodgers.

Dylan is a "skater boy" who much like Caitlin just doesn't fit in with the popular crowd. He helps Caitlin deal with her grief , and somewhere along the way, the two fall in love. Caitlin;s mother has become very over protective of her since Carly's death, and she has forbidden her from dating. As a result, Caitlin begins to sneak behind her parent's back to be with Dylan. She finds sneaking around exciting, but how long can her luck last? Secrets always have a way of coming out. What will happen when her secrets are finally exposed?

Having lost my brother at a young age, I can totally relate to Caitlin. Much like Caitlin's parents, my parents were totally consumed by their own grief which left me to try and navigate my way through my own feelings of loss and loneliness.

This was a well written story that progressed at the perfect pace. I fell in love with Caitlin and found myself hoping she would find some happiness. If you are looking for a great read containing a mixture of angst, friendship, and love, you should give this book a try! *I was given a copy of this book as a gift from Stephanie's Book Reports in exchange for an honest review.

HASH(0x9aee9498) out of 5 stars Love in the midst of Tragedy 12 Feb. 2014
By Melyssa Curtis - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I'm always so eager to take a chance on new books, especially ones by indie authors it seems and this was no exception. Even knowing the basics of what would be happening in the book I was still taken aback by how easily I just fell right into the world that the author created. Right from the very beginning it started with an emotional bang and didn't let up the entire way through!
I found the story to be emotional, dramatic yet still very very cute especially as the romance between the characters bloomed. Watching both characters come into their own and how all of the characters, both lead and otherwise dealt with the tragic hand they were dealt right from the very beginning was very moving for me.
This is a really great read. The only issue that I had was that it was so short and I wanted more. Though a little birdie tells me that in the future there will be more, so I'm over the moon with happiness.
If you want a cute, quick read, this is the book for you. it's perfect.

Caitlin I liked her, "I just want you to know. I'm not embarrassed to be with you. I just feel like if I tell my dad, he'll feel obligated to tell my mom. I just can't deal with it right now. Do you know what I mean?" Dylan I don't think he likes being a secret, "Dylan shrugged. "Better than your mom finding us on your bed making out." Caitlin that girl sometimes can't hold in how she feels she's so honest, and innocent and I liked that, "what are we going to do? I can't stop thinking about it. I want to go further. You've become my best friend, Dylan. I want to be with you like that. I need to feel what being that close to someone is like." Dylan you can tell that boy is inexperienced but he's willing to take one for his girl, "what if I come too fast? What if you don't enjoy it? What if I suck?" I really liked this book.

HASH(0x9aee6738) out of 5 stars Dylan and Cait 27 April 2014
By A.C. Wilson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I was intrigued by this YA romance of Dylan and Cait. Cait goes through the most heart-breaking loss at the death of her older sister. As can happen, the parents felt the older sister to be the ideal template for the younger one. Cait is artistic and comfortable being a "misfit" and finds a blossoming attraction to Dylan.

Dylan lives downt he street in her neighborhood and introduces himself to Cait just as her world is exploding. Their friendship soon becomes something more and they both explore the possibility of love. It's Cait's grieving parents that have a hard time letting go.

I thought this was a good, quick read. It was fun reading about the thoughts of a young couple new to love and all its facets. I look forward to reading more from Theresa Troutman!

HASH(0x9aee378c) out of 5 stars Young love can be so confusing 21 Nov. 2014
By Miranda Shanklin - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I found this book to a very nice read. It grabbed my attention at the beginning and kept it through until the end. I loved the progression of young love and the confusion and uncertainty that often times comes with it.

Caitlin and Dylan's story is one that begins with tragedy and ends with them overcoming many obstacles. It was very realistic in the events and brought to light a lot of conflicts and emotions that most of us never truly think deeply about.

The ending left you wondering just a bit. It could be the end of their story but there was a small opening in case this author wanted to go back and tell about the college years and the obstacles that come with that for this couple.

This book is definitely worth a read.
