This is an abhorent message, often inaccurate in the facts presented, abysmally written and abysmally plotted. The authors are entitled to their political opinions, but to aim this propaganda at 13 year olds is intellectually corrupt.
The pictures are nicely done, though. And it is frequently unintentionally hilarious.

The most insane children book I've ever seen

Thanks to the 2nd amendment there are 90 times the number of intentional gun-related deaths in the US compared to the UK, but this book may go some way to reducing the unintentional death rate, which is 30 times higher in the US due to the 2nd amendment. Never mind that the 'bad guys' in any country arm themselves to shoot at one another rather than the general public, which might neatly explain that other advanced civilisations banned guns and not only didn't go to hell, but actually thrived and significantly reduced their mortality rates. It takes a sort of hubristic egoism to even think you'll even be a key player should anything go down. One wonders if the founding fathers made sex with horses a constitutional right Americans would be so keen to defend it, then again they seem happy to make it up as they go along, adding God back in where the founding fathers pointedly created an athiest country. Here's to the next school massacre!

How about Oscar Pistorius?

(addition to original review follows)
My mistake - it has celebrity endorsement: Stephen Colbert, no less! The book proudly displays his review "What a lovely bedtime story...".
Shame the publishers didn't have enough space to include the rest. In case you missed it, he read a bit of the book on his show, and concluded with:
"What a beautiful bedtime story. 'The world is full of maniacs who want to hurt you and the police can't help. Goodnight, honey.'"

I'm so glad this book came out. I neede something to Little Mary Beth Sue why I spend so much time hiding behind the curtains and stock piling canned goods. She needed to be told in words she can understand why we have to be so scared these days. With so many people who aren't like her around she needs to watch her back at all times. She is too young to understand that not every one is Christian, white and heterosexual and why that is a bad thing. She will now know exactly why I feel the need to openly carry loaded guns. She will finally be able to feel the healthy paranoia we all need to make this world a better place. Next I'm going to buy her Timmy has two Moms and that's wrong.

I haven't read the book, but just the title is enough for anyone to know it's a load of mentalness for mentals.
I'm looking forward to other, similarly intellectual and enlightening titles, such as 'Mom, Why Does Cletus Have More Fingers Than Me?', 'If Daddy Leaves Us, Will Mom Still Be My sister?' and 'Relatives With Benefits'.
With ISIS, Putin and the Yanks all carrying weapons, normal folks might as well sign up to Virgin Galactic and get out of here. A trip on an experimental rocketship with a dodgy safety record somehow seems to be a safer bet for the future.

How to settle arguments in parking lots made easy, you and that old lady both want the last jar of peanut butter at the supermarket? Neighbours kids playing loud rock music? No more need to talk, just shoot first!
