Katie, or Cat as they know her at work, is looking up to her boss Demeter. Demeter has it all, a beautiful house, two gorgeous children and a dream job. Katie works as an assistant at a branding company and can barely pay the rent of her tiny room in a not so great part of London, nobody is interested in her talent and she doesn't have any friends. She wants to be like Demeter and is determined to make it happen. She's trying to prove to her dad she can be independent and happy in London. Katie posts cheerful pictures on her Instagram account of other people's food, deliciousness she can't afford to order herself, and the wonderful London life she doesn't get a chance to lead. She pretends she's doing very well and can keep things going, but then she loses her job. Demeter fires her in the worst possible way and Katie doesn't have enough savings to stay in London and find a new job.

Katie grew up as a countryside girl. Her father and stepmother want to use their Somerset farm for glamping. Katie's father doesn't have much business sense, but Katie knows how to set it all up. She's got the skills and learned a lot just by watching Demeter. Katie knows exactly how to turn their farm into a successful vacation business for rich people. She tells her overprotective father she's on a sabbatical from work, but still has her job in London. She can easily keep her unemployment a secret until Demeter shows up for a holiday at the farm. What should Katie do and does she still have a future in London or does she belong with her family working on the farm?

My Not So Perfect Life is a funny story. Katie is a sweet girl with a good head on her shoulders. Katie is much bolder than Cat. She has wild curling hair and she's a healthy country girl.

As always, another great read from Sophie Kinsella! I can't put down the book coz I'm so into the story. It's not a romantic one like the usual but it still is a very interesting read. I've read all her books and she never fails to make me laugh and be in love with it, characters and plots and all.

Katie Brennan is a country girl who has always longed to live in London, but now she's there she finds it not quite as wonderful as she had hoped for. She lives in a shared flat in Catford and has a long and exhausting commute to her job in Chiswick. Her boss, Demeter, terrifies her, and she is always short of money. Then one terrible day she is fired from her job, and is obliged to take refuge with her father on his farm in Somerset. Her father and his too angelic girlfriend Biddy have decided to go into the glamping business, and they persuade Katie to help them. Then one day the terrifying Demeter turns up with her family to stay on the farm, and it seems a perfect chance for Kate to get her revenge on Demeter for firing her. But perhaps things are not quite as Katie had imagined they were.
This is quite an amusing story, but not as funny as some of Sophie Kinsella's other books, and nowhere near as hilarious as The Undomestic Goddess (my personal favourite). The first part of the book, set in London, seems to me to go on rather too long, and the funniest part, when Katie is trying to get her revenge on Demeter, not long enough. The love interest is not as interesting as some of her others either. Although entertaining enough, it is not one of her best.

Country farm girl, Katie Brenner has dreamt of working in London, for years. So when Cooper Clemmow, a London branding, and strategy company, called to offer Katie an entry level position, she was ecstatic. She decided to reinvent herself. Katie lost her Somerset country accent, straightened her hair, bought a pair of fake eyeglasses and changed her nickname from Katie to Cat. And even though, Cat had to share her flat, sleep in a closet-size bedroom, and work with a rude, evil boss, she was happy; until she was fired.

Having no choice but to move back home, Katie volunteered to help her father, and step-mother launch, Ansters Farm Country Retreat, a Glamping business. Katie was just beginning, to enjoy her work, when her ex-boss showed up, with her family, for a vacation. Needless to say, Katie was beside herself. I found Katie’s revenge on her old boss, hysterical. Sophie Kinsella knows how to write hilarious inner dialogue and crazy funny scenes.

Katie learned some lessons in this book; 1. People are not always who they appear to be and 2. No one has a perfect life. My Not So Perfect Life is an easy-breezy, well-written, humorous book, with lots of likable characters, and witty dialogue. Be prepared to laugh, a lot. Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read this advanced review copy. I loved it!

Katie Brenner has the life she always wanted, her dream job in London, a flat and a dreamy Instagram feed. But that is a lie, her flat is poky, her job is junior with a hideous commute and her Instagram feed is all a lie. When she loses her job and heads back to Somerset Katie is given the chance to start again. Then her evil ex-boss Demeter turns up at her family's glamping business and Katie is given the chance of revenge. Should she take it or is Demeter hiding lies as well?
I loved this novel, this really is a true Kinsella novel and I loved how relatable this is. From the beginning we see Katie struggling with her life in London, what she thought would be her dream, but she posts her 'perfect' life onto Instagram. As does her horrible ex-boss Demeter. This is so relatable and got me thinking about how well we really know people around us and whether we too are posting our 'perfect' lives without really living them. I adored this novel for being so realistic, the plot as well as the characters. By the end of the novel, Katie and Demeter felt like my friends and I was so invested in their story.
Of course this novel is hilarious and provided many a laugh throughout. It is also incredibly entertaining and fun and it was a pleasure to read and lose myself in. Katie and Demeter as characters are perfect and the journey they go as they learn about themselves and each other is funny and insightful. Then we have the romantic plot arc with Katie and Alex, providing some really lovely moments throughout the novel. The three main characters are perfectly written and complement each other perfectly.
This novel will ensure plenty of entertainment and hilarity and is an all round enjoyable read.
