Immerse yourself in this sunny, uplifting romantic comedy starring Oscar nominee Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) and Academy Award winner Richard Dreyfuss. Vardalos delivers a charming performance as Georgia, a recently laid-off though anything but laid-back history professor-turned-travel guide to a motley crew of hilariously crass tourists. Georgia is fed up and ready to give up until her new confidant Irv (Dreyfuss) opens her eyes and heart to a simple fact: Theres no finer way for a woman to find her kefi (a.k.a. mojo) than to lose herself in the arms of the Greek god (Alexis Georgoulis) whos been hiding right under her nose!

However this is one of those exceptions. I was delighted with this film, the comedy was excellent with unpredictable non-cliché comedy. The tour group itself was a funny group of realistic misfits....from an arguing posh-sounding couple to a kleptomaniac granny :) The bus driver/hero (post shaven) was gorgeous enough to send my girly teenage hormones a-flutter. The main heroine was clumsy and just a little bit nuts. Fantastic scene shots, nice non-cheesy music and overall a charming not too serious film. Also the good guys win :) what more could you want?
It would be a nice addition to your dvd collection simply because its different, sure it could be classed as a rom-com but i think its more than that, simply because most rom-coms make me knaw my legs off in sheer boredom. Whilst this one kept me entertained enough to make me want to watch it twice.
Seeing as im poor I cant buy it yet...but im going to as soon as i can :)
It would be helpful if, in future, a prominent notice was posted next to dvd's which are NOT suitable for our English system!
Have been in touch with the seller and had to return this, at my own expense, for a refund. Not happy!
This movie had so much potential but is really terrible. It's neither funny nor romantic and the dopey cast is always blocking our view of beautiful Greece. The plot is a lackluster rip-off of the very funny If It's Tuesday, This Must be Belgium but lacks its charm and good script. Vardalos' self-deprecating character that was so witty in My Big Fat Greek Wedding is just tedious here, making her transformation at the end ridiculously far-fetched. The tourists all have one-dimensional personalities and are uniformly over-the-top. Veteran actor Richard Dreyfuss plays the sterotypical saintly old man who turns Georgia's life around by urging her to find her "spirit." I was fascinated that he looked so much like Eli Wallach but he was such a know-it-all that I couldn't stand him. Rachel Dratch is also extremely grating as a fellow passenger on the Bus of Fools and there's nothing appealing about Alexis Georgoulis who plays the object of Georgia's affection.
Stick with If It's Tuesday for a genuinely funny look at the trials of the guided bus tour. The DVD has no Extras at all. I gave it two stars for the lovely scenery.
I gave this 4 because I felt as though I was back in Greece during some parts of the film, filming is done really nicely, gorgeous ambiance. Many funny moments and a couple of heart tugging ones. Love our British pickpocket :) All in all a feel good film.
I really want to go back to the Med now, lol
It is extremely funny but with moments of sadness that are very touching. The photography and scenery are stunning, from the streets of Athens, to the Acropolis, Delphi, a beach, and return. Nia Vardalis is a real delight to watch, particularly her changes of expression, and Richard Dreyfuss's change from a man who is a a pain in the neck to one who gains the sympathy of those around him is acting of very high standard. There are some great cameos from the supporting actors and, of course, there is a love interest - but see the film to learn how this and the rest of the plot works out; you won't be sorry!!
