Review

'An intricately woven story of love, jealousy and misunderstanding' Diney Costeloe, author of The Throwaway Children.

'A deeply emotional story of healing and moving on' For The Love of Books

'A truly heartfelt novel ... I'm going to miss these characters now it's over!' Reviewed The Book Blog.

My Husband's Wives] will take you on a journey of life, love, marriage and above all else friendship. If I had to sum this book up in three words, they would be Relatable, Beautiful & Fantastic' 23 Review Street.

'Beautifully written in such a naturally warm style that you can't help but open your heart to them ... an outstanding debut from Faith Hogan and I highly recommend it' Michelle, Goodreads.

'Thoroughly enjoyed it, fab story' Amanda Prowse.

'An astonishing story of love, loss, jealousy and every messy, complex human emotion in between. Just imagine Henry VIII's six wives coming together over his corpse and what would result! I absolute loved this perfect autumn-y read - Faith Hogan really is a name to watch out for' Claudia Carroll.

I skim through a LOT of books each day and every so often one jumps out at me as a definite for my kindle. This was one such novel. Following the lives of several women all linked, one way and another, to the same man.

We learn, one by one, how they met Paul Starr and what he became in each of their lives while continuing with the day to day lives of all of these women separately and eventually how they react to each other.

This is a marvellous read - all encompassing, lots going on and every question which pops into your mind is answered before the final page. Beautifully written with excellent characterisation and a really absorbing read. If you enjoy a terrifically exciting novel about extended families then this is a must read for you.

A full five stars - no doubt about it!

One of the best books I've read in a long time. I picked my tablet up in the morning and read it from start to finish with hardly a pause for a cuppa!
The title was intregueing and from the first page I was hooked. Paul Starr was very believable when talking to Grace about Evie and from the moment Grace found out she was pregnant Paul was a different person ............if you want to know more please read the book.

The unravelling of Paul Starr's life only begins after his death. Dead in a car accident he is found with a young pregnant woman by his side. Not his wife, not known to anyone Kasia is the victim here. From this point on the double or triple or quadruple life of Paul is told in painstaking detail.

There is his first wife Evie - much older than him and there are no children. That is the crux of the problem. He leaves her for Grace who gives him a daughter and then decides surreptitiously to be on the pill as she cannot cope with pregnancy or the life that follows having children. The moment he discovers this he moves on to Annaliese with whom he has two boys. He has just left her when the accident happens. At the same time Paul is able to juggle the relationships because he is in constant touch with all the women, all the children and maintain a fairly decent relationship with all.

The story gets really interesting only after his death and this is where the complications set in. The story of family support and love, actually in this case extended family and of four outstandingly strong women and how they cope with an unusual situation thrust on them.
