I thought that one of the greatest strengths of My Husband's Wife was its honest, unflinching portrayal of family life. Browse effectively and sensitively showcased family life at its most joyful, its most mundane, and at its most fragile. The cast of characters were all realistic portrayals that most readers could relate to, and I thought they were all really well developed. I enjoyed reading about the interaction between characters, particularly between Rosie and her brother-in-law, her mother-in-law and her father-in-law. I also thought Rosie's father was a really interesting and well-developed character, and I enjoyed figuring him out. Although I didn't enjoy reading about the imaginary exchanges between Rosie and her mother (too cringe-worthy for me, unfortunately), I enjoyed the whole backstory to Rosie's childhood, and about her parents. I felt this added a much-needed depth to Rosie's emotional and psychological position as a mother, and explained her reaction to a lot of the things that happened to her in the story.

Another strong point of the novel for me, and probably one of my favourite parts of the novel was the dialogue of the children, and particularly their interaction with the adults in the story. I thought everything they said was really authentic and it was very enjoyable and heartwarming to read. I loved the character development of the girls and their reaction to the events that were happening around them. I felt like they were very much at the centre of the action, without being aware of it, and it's always interesting to see the reaction of children to sometimes very adult events that are occurring in their world.

I've read so many of Amanda's books now and I've never been disappointed. In the past, I've found her books "real" as well as emotional and this was no exception.

Rosie Tipcott is happy and content with her lot. Married with two beautiful daughters, she's not wealthy, in fact, she even has to clean caravans to help make ends meet, but she feels rich because she has a complete family, something she always yearned for as a child. Her mum left when she was just a baby, leaving her to be brought up by her father alone.

Then, with no warning, Rosie's little world of contentment is shattered.

First of all, this book is funny, so funny. Rosie's children come out with some real gems that will probably have you laughing out loud. Then it's sad, so very sad, so as with most of this author's books, have those tissues ready. Naomi and Leona, Rosie's daughters definitely steal the limelight in this story. Their huge personalities burst with energy throughout the whole book. Even when they're sad, they're funny.

This book will have you laughing and crying in equal measures. It's a wonderful story and although it made me very sad in parts, it was by no means downbeat. I thoroughly enjoyed the emotional journey it took me on and highly recommend this delightful read.

Absolutely brilliant, didn't want to read it because I didn't want it to end. I have discarded so many books lately after a few pages I was desparing of ever finding another good read. This one certainly hit the spot. Going to hunt for another one now. Thank you Amanda for bringing back my faith in a good book.

Being with her family makes Rosie happy. She has everything she wants, two beautiful daughters, a husband she adores, a great best friend, parents-in-law she's close to and a cozy house in a seaside town. She thinks her life is perfect, but apparently she's missed something vital. The signs were there, but she didn't pick up on them. All of a sudden Phil is moving in with another woman, someone he's been seeing for quite some time. Rosie is crushed and while she's grieving she slowly loses everything she holds dear. Nothing feels right anymore and the situation only seems to get worse. Will she be able to bounce back and move on eventually?

My Husband's Wife is a heartbreaking story. Rosie is such a happy and cheerful person who is content with what she has an who deeply loves her husband and daughters. Her life is exactly the way she wants it to be. It was so sad to watch it being taken away from her. I shed plenty of tears while reading this book, as some of the scenes are painful to read. I'm always impressed when I feel so many different things when I'm reading a novel, which is where the beauty of this story lies for me.

Amanda Prowse always writes books that are deeply moving. Rosie is wonderful. She's sweet, caring and easy to like. She's an excellent mother and she's always making sure that her daughters feel loved. She has her bad moments and sheds plenty of tears, but she's strong. I love how Amanda Prowse describes unconditional love, finding the one and deep affection. She knows how to write about emotion and that's what makes her stories so good.

My Husband's Wife is a gripping book that kept me glued to my seat from the start, I couldn't put it down. It's a story that has a great number of layers and is deep on many different levels.
