I had no doubt about it going in to reading My Defender. I knew it was going to be an amazing read - because Alanea Alder's writing is just that goof. And of course I wasn't disappointed. I love Grant and Ellie together. Both have their hang ups about themselves and with the assistance of their mates manage to see themselves clearly, and of course fall in love.
Without spoilers, Alanea had me laughing, crying and crying with laughter! Her writing pulls every emotion from you, but I love the way she gets the humour in there. From more Facebook updates (especially Colton's) to the super secret video and the aftermath I giggled so hard I probably woke up my neighbours!
A definite must read for fans of Alanea, and the whole series for people who love paranormal romance with more than a dash of geekiness and humour!

In My Defender we rejoin Meryn, Aiden & company still in Noctem Falls where it is the turn of enigmatic wolf shifter Grant to meet his mate. Ellie, an elephant shifter, is a paediatric specialist who has come to the Vampire city in response to a mysterious illness that is affecting the refuge wolf shifter children. She has given up on ever finding love due to her larger size so she is totally shocked when she meets Grant but before they can do anything first they have to find out what is causing this sickness before it spreads. This story had me crying both tears of laughter at Meryn's usual high jinks & the unit warriors watching a certain video and then tears of sadness when we lose someone. This part of the book was handled so gently and written so beautifully that it didn't spoil my enjoyment of My Defender, and indeed, allows for the introduction of some old friends from Lycaonia.

I love the Bewitched and Bewildered series. I can honestly say I think I will ever tire of re-reading these books and My Defender is no exception. This is definitely one author I have no hesitation in recommending to anyone.

Unlike may other series that wane after the fourth or fifth book, this just keeps getting better!
Ellie is a shifter paediatrician called on to assist with a curious illness plaguing the shifter children in the vampire city.
Grant, a unit warrior, seems to be the only thing keeping all of the sick kids calm while they try to find out what is wrong with them. As more help arrives, the gang try to find out what is happening and protect the community.
If you've been missing the rest of the group back home and trips to the Duck Inn you will be very happy with this book. As always, the tough parts of the plot are broken up with hilarious situations involving the warriors trying to fix things for the women!
Honestly can't wait for the next book.

I'll start of by saying that this is my favourite series of all the ones i'm currently reading. Alder is a skilled writer able to curate an entire world out of a few myths and legends. One of the things I love about this series is the complexity and the relate-ability. Whilst we will unfortunately never be shifters or fae, we all have insecurities and hang ups. Alder triumphs where other writers fall short and has created imperfect characters. Often in this genre angsty characters are created that you end up getting tired of, because the whole novel can't make up its mind. Alder on the other hand has a clear purpose and sticks to it effortlessly creating characters that you want to read about.

Now onto the book you're hear to find out about. It has her usual spark of individuality, that marries up perfectly with her imaginative plot lines. When I think I've read it all Alder comes out of no where and gives me something I didn't know I wanted. You might think that an illness spreading is pretty generic, however reading it from her is something new. You may say that this is something she's done in her Arkadia series, which she has, but once again it's compleatly different.

Grant and Ellie are compleatly different to every other couple we've met so far, but that does't mean their not perfect together. Both of them are insecure and in the book that translates to them taking a while to get to know each other. Especially since their always helping others. This, for me, made the book a bit slow and i was eager to jump into the action. The blurb says that Grant doesn't want a mate, however that doesn't actually translate into the novel.

I read this book in just a few hours. I couldn't put it down. Fast but perfect, I was gripped and re-immersed into the Bewitched and Bewildered world with very little effort. Intense, hilarious, light but heavy. Grant is adorable and Ellie is invested. Meryn is her perfect crazy self and everyone else slots back in seamlessly. The plot thickens and new obstacles are found. I'm waiting for the founding and noble families to get what's coming to them!

I just need more. Every fix I get just makes the cravings worse!! Another brilliant addition and flowing story. I don't even know who I want next, any of the warriors will be a fantastic read.

Stunning! #healthcarevideos #startrekwars
