About the Author

Author Mary Ting resides in Southern California with her husband and two children. She enjoys oil painting and making jewelry. Writing her first novel, Crossroads Saga, happened by chance. It was a way to grieve the death of her beloved grandmother, and inspired by a dream she once had as a young girl. When she started reading new adult novels, she fell in love with the genre. It was the reason she had to write one-Something Great. Why the pen name, M Clarke? She tours with Magic Johnson Foundation to promote literacy and her children's chapter book-No Bullies Allowed.

Alex is heartbroken over the death of her father who she hero worships and desperately misses. She goes off to college to find Ellie her new roommate is actually Elijah, that she along with half the girls on campus likes. Her boyfriend Liam at another university, isn't just quite as supportive as she'd like.
Elijah and Alex are attracted to each other. Their HEA is filled with them both changing, adapting and growing up. I just thought the ending was just too abrupt after a beautiful build up hence four stars. Also Elijahs background is just too sad - poor man. There are some plot holes but to be honest, the overall effect is a good read.

Oh M-A-N! So Good! So emotional!! New Adult Romance is not normally my go to genre, but I would definitely re-read this story again & again. I have to confess that I have never cried as hard as I did while reading this book. I seriously won't even watch those tear jerker movies, because they affect me so. I didn't expect it to hit me so hard, but it deals with an illness that is very close to my heart. HOWEVER this story refused to be put aside, & for whatever reason I continued reading. I am really glad too, because I really really liked it!! Totally worth the tears!
We start out saying goodbye as Alex prepares to go off to college her world is turned upside down. Little does she know what else is in store for her. New town, friends, routines, choices, rules...a whole new world. Alex is lucky to have her cousin's older friends to help her adjust to everything. Her roomie Ellie quickly becomes one of my favorite characters along with the rest of the four musketeers.
As always M. Clarke does a fabulous job of taking us on this journey. She takes the typical college life & spices it up every chance she gets adding twists & turns I never expected. Be prepared for lots of goodbyes, tears to be shed, tons of laughter, & sweet memories in the making. The Halloween party & karaoke singing for Ellie's Bday happen to be some of my favorite scenes! And...the ending of course! Perfection!!

I'm a bit of a sucker for the old male/female roommate, will-they-won't-they sexual tension book. My Clarity was also a bit of a random and serendipitous find having discovered the author through another one of my absolute favourite authors. A simple mention of the release for My Clarity and a sneak peek into one of the chapters on Facebook and I was hooked. I had to wait a full week from finding the teaser to the actual release date and I had been counting down the hours in anticipation!...
After the tragic death of her dad, Alexandra decides to head off to college, rooming with someone she knows only as Ellie- someone she perceives as female through the vague references passed on from her cousin who found her the spare room. Mary's writing had me in tears as Alex deals with the fresh pain of her dad's demise from cancer. It's emotive and beautiful. Alex as a character was superb, she is strong minded and vulnerable but with a backbone. Although she comes across as shy and introverted Alex's character develops with the storyline, she blossoms and provides great entertainment through her intelligence and witty repartee with Elijah. Look out for the milk and cookies scene, hot, hot, hot!
Elijah was a little harder to like from the get-go. Gorgeous but stoic he had the whole James Dean, motorcycle riding, I-only-talk-when-I-need bad-boy thing going on for him...and he smokes! Something Alex herself finds difficult to contend with due to her dad's illness. Elijah is a man of few words but what he says and how he demonstrates himself packs a definite punch. He too grows as a person as he learns to confront and deal with his rapidly growing feelings towards his roommate. By the end I was head-over-heels for the guy.

Escape into my Reads Book Blog

I fell in love with this book! The beginning left me in an emotional mess and heart-broken for poor Alexa. The girl has her mind focused on leaving her mother behind to gain space, and heading off to college to room with a new flat mate called Ellie. This is where the story kicked off for me and I loved reading every second of it. Elijah is hot, bad and so off limits, but the sexual tension between him and Alexa is hard to ignore. Together they are so sexy, passionate and their love is perfect but as any angst romance book goes there is denial, jealousy, possessiveness and some hot, sweet sexy scenes. Elijah may come across as bad and tough but really he is such a sweet and attentive guy I crushed on him hard, I felt so sorry for him the poor guy had to deal with so much in his life but he didn’t let it make him bitter. The secondary characters were great to love and hate. The epilogue was sweet but I was left wanting more and it seemed to end abruptly at 95%, the remaining 5% lead to samples of books by other authors which I really hate to see in an e-book I purchased, especially when a longer epilogue could have been written that was my only dislike of reading this book.

If you get this book and you don't get teary at the beginning with the prologue then there's something wrong if you do then your going to REALLY enjoy this book I couldn't put it down just loved it and it made me cry further along in the book put it this way it says it's a standalone and it is but I'm definitely of to get the next instalment about Seth and see what happens in his standalone book.
