The first 3-4 weeks he only went in it for a little bit at the time, mainly for sitting and have some fun, he loved his gear stick and wheel! It has different sounds depending on what you press/turn.
It's quite big to sit in, to start with i had to roll a little blanket and place it around my son's back for a better fit
As our son was getting bigger we had to adjust it and used it as a walker and it was quite disappointing to see that the quality of it wasn't as expected. It had 3 height settings and somehow it will not safely push into its slot, if you would put bit of weight on the walker would fall flat, which isn't seem safe at all. My husband took it down the shed and had to make some changed to it and we managed to make it stay up safely.
After that another disappointment were the wheels, they would not go pretty much at all, they were very small and quite low quality. So another go at the shed and my husband removed the wheels and added some better ones on and we were on the move! Our son loved it, he used it nearly everyday for over 6 months, it must be made with some strong plastic as it did not broke at all, even tho our son bashed the crap out of it.
Although it was great fun, we believe it slowed down our son's development, he is nearly 16 months now and still not walking on his own!
It is quite bulky, needs quite a bit of room when not used.
I would not buy this again or any other walker if we will have another baby, mainly because the baby's development will slow down.
What isn't evident from the picture is that when the bumpers are folded flat for walker mode, the white anti-fall blocks that are fitted to the underside allow minimal clearance for the front wheels; less than 5mm. So, on a hard surface such as ceramic tiles or laminate floor, I'm sure in walker mode, baby will have endless fun zooming around the room but on a carpet - poor baby doesn't go anywhere. I found the front of the walker dragged on the carpet pile even without baby in and we have a reasonably worn short pile carpet.
The front wheels (castors) do not lift the front of the walker as high off the ground as the rear wheels so that in itself is a flaw but the folding mechanism means pressure on the central unit (baby being in it) forces the bumpers up at a slight angle above horizontal, reducing the wheels clearance even more.
If the design could incorporate stays to ensure the bumpers sit slightly below the horizontal when in walker mode, then any weight on the central unit would not affect the wheel clearance with the anti-fall blocks but as it is, it's not suitable for carpets.
I was looking forward to our wee boy having fun with this but even once I'd built it, the defects became apparent before he had a chance to use it. When he did sit in it, the walker was firmly embedded in the carpet so he wasn't going anywhere. Pity.
It is NOT suitable for six months plus. Probably 1 year plus.
My son is 6 mths and slightly above average size for his age (9Kg) and it's way too big.
In the lowest setting his feet are still some way from the floor.
The front wheels are plastic and the cheapest rubbish possible.
As for assembly. The six Anti-fall blocks push into place but require more force to get them all the way in than the average woman would be able to exert. I'm a 100Kg man and only just managed.
I'm probably going to return this.
Secondly, the wheels are cheap and don't swivel properly so he is propelling it and trying to use his legs to manouevre but they won't swivel, so the poor guy can only go forwards and backwards and can't change direction. Only the front wheels are supposed to swivel; the back wheels are fixed, but it doesn't make much difference since the front ones don't swivel properly as explained.
Not sure if the newer version has made improvements on this version...certainly hope so.
