About the Author
Australian cook and food writer Sophie Ruggles took a leap of faith in 2003 and moved with her family to Barcelona, where she accidently opened a restaurant. Originally her idea was to work as a chef and polish her rather rusty language skills but the opportunity to be the proprietor of her very own eatery came along and within four short months Sophie opened the doors of EMU Bar, Barcelona's first Australasian eatery. Almost one decade on and Sophie has since swapped the steaming kitchen at EMU Bar for the chatty kitchen counter at her new commercial kitchen and informal cooking school, Test Kitchen BCN, situated in one of Barcelona's hottest foodie districts, Poble Sec. Sophie has published two previous recipe books Eat GST Free! (Choice Books, 2001) and Suddenly Cooking - real food made real easy (Casera Publications, 2010). As well as food writing and teaching cooking classes, she dedicates a large amount of her time to her other passions, food photography and pottering in her urban herb and vegetable garden snacking on fresh peas from the vine.
