Marilyn Peake is well known for pushing the envelope of sci-fi writing, and this offering is no different. Starkly relevant, this zombie short reads like a case file, a diary of a witness to this apocalypse, plausibly believable as far as zombie fiction goes, and as it is one of my favourite genres, I have read a lot! Personally I think this could have been longer but it is an engaging short read and the cover does the story justice.

4.0 out of 5 stars ... is a very quick read and is read in like an hour 3 Dec. 2016
By Angelica Lichtnerova - Published on Amazon.com

First this is a very quick read and is read in like an hour, which made me a bit disappointed but sometimes you just want a quick read but due to it being quick, the story lacked behind a bit. I liked the whole taking of putting an innocent nurse from US into Ebola Africa and make them into zombie. Hell Yeah I am up for that!

There is a great story behind it and it is a very tragic one which the author is putting out there. I like that and the nature of the horror in it. I dont know if it is thought that this book should be funny but most Zombie stories is funny, specially when they take themselves to serious. This one has a good tone and is partly serious and partly humour which I just LOVE!

Emma is really naive and sometimes stupid but I think a lot of people would be in her situation. I also like how she changed in the story No pun intended here about her transforming into a zombie. Okay!

I like the story for what it is, and it is a good first book. I will read the second one and hope it has a bit more story and a bit more backstory to it. This is a book for people who love Zombie books and want one even if it is not the best one. It is a good story for what it is, a quick read and it is kind of funny.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Zombie Story 27 July 2016

I liked how the author twisted the Ebola breakout in Africa into her zombie novel. I found the main character, a young nurse, likeable & realistic. The African setting really added to the story. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars An interesting take on Ebola 5 Sept. 2016

The writing is tight and given the length of the book the characterizations of the protagonist are well done. The horrors of Ebola are held at arms length but the premise of the real horror are brought home very well.

If you are a fan of post apocalypse horror this may just be your mug of Java.

4.0 out of 5 stars Reality is personal 26 Aug. 2016

I rated this short story 4 stars because of the potential promise of the author's skill in future books. The story is easy to read although there are some jumps in the storyline as to how some characters are in one place then suddenly in another. Overall I enjoyed reading this author's work and look forward to the series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Beginning of a Series 14 Aug. 2015

This is another series about zombies. There were some neat twists, but because it's a series, I don't want to wait months to be able to finish the entire thing.
