Great soulful tracks produced by Martyn Ware showcasing some fantastic artists. Gets better on second listening - the only track that I personally wasn't keen on was Terence Trent D'Arby.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nowhere near as good as Vol. 1 4 Jan. 2013

BEF was the two musicians behind Heaven 17 (minus the singer) with a rotating array of vocalists. The first album had edgy production, and some obscure and rediscovered stars that made it essential listening (including a career-reviving turn by Tina Turner). Some of the vocals on this album are fine, but there are no showstoppers. It's mostly the weak production and arrangements that sink this, and that lies directly at the feet of BEF. At times, this sounds like little more than a MIDI-generated karaoke voiceover album, that just happens to have some decent singers.

I must admit I bought this CD just to listen to "I don't know why I love you" featuring Green from Scritti Politti.
