Product Description

The Andrews Sisters emerged from Minneapolis to become the most popular female vocal group of the entire pre-1955 era, being the first female group to score a million selling disc with Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen in 1938. Led by Patty, the trio appeared in many 1940s movies, and their unmistakable sound helped define the wartime era.

By the mid-1950s the sisters had recorded over 400 songs achieving six chart toppers and countless gold discs. Their hundreds of hits are well represented on various compilation CDs so we have featured the more hard-to-find recordings. The sisters also recorded with other popular artists of the day such as Bing Crosby, Dick Haymes and Dan Dailey. Some of their duets are included here making their debut appearance on CD.

Youngest sister Patty always sang lead on their recordings but she also had a successful career in her own right and some of her solo efforts are heard here - I’ll Walk Alone, Our Love Is Here To Stay and her collaboration with Dick Haymes, I Ought To Know More About You.

Format: Audio CD
An Excellent compilation of some lesser known but classic Andrews Sisters recordings from the Decca Years. Some really good recordings on here that have never previously been released on cd. Highlights would be Some Sunny Day & I want To go Back to Michigan Written by Irving Berlin. Windmill Song and Telephone Song are great Novelty numbers. Some of the duets included here are with Alfred Apaka and Dan Dailey aswell as some excellent pairings with Country Singer Red Foley. The songs on this compilation are mainly uptempo with a few ballads also but all recordings are in True Andrews Sisters Style. Rare photos & Rare recordings At this price make this compilation an absolute Bargain

5.0 out of 5 stars 25 l Andrews Sisters treasures 7 July 2005
By Charles G. Miller - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Just when you think all the Andrews Sisters recordings have been released, comes along this CD with long out of print songs with duets by Dan Dailey, Alfred Apaka, Red Foley, Dick Haymes, etc. Nicely packaged and the sound is great.

4.0 out of 5 stars From the Latter Decca Years 2 Jan. 2004
By Staysun - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This is a must-have collection for Andrews Sisters collectors. It contains later Decca recordings (post World War II-1952) that have not been present on more recent CD compilations and may not have seen the light of day since their original pressing. There are many delights including "The Telephone Song" and "Some Sunny Day". In addition, there are four Patty Andrews solos - "I'll Walk Alone", "Our Love is Here to Stay", "It's All Over But the Memories" and "That's the Chance You Take." Also included are four Patty duets - "Unless You're Free" and "Baby Blues" with Red Foley and "If I Were a Bell" with Bing Crosby and "I Ought to Know More About You" with Dick Haymes.
