The untimely death of David Munrow, leader of the Early Music Consort of London, brought to an end a vibrant episode in British msic-making. However, a number of albums remain as invaluable contribution to our enjoyment of early music.
This collection takes popular music back to earliest days of modern music notation but this is no dry example of historical musicology. The performances are lively and committed. Anyone interested in the earliest Songs for Europe will find much to enjoy.
