I was delighted to buy this piece from the gifted musician/composer Harold Budd as I have been a long standing fan. The opening piece captivates you and your are taken on yet another dream like journey with Mr Budd and his collegues. The biggest dissapointment of this piece is it barely clocks up 21 minutes and the Amazon price is not justified when you can download it from itunes for £4.74. If you prefer to have a CD of it I am sure you can purchase it elsewhere for less than Amazon. By dawns early light followed hot on the heels of 3 pianos and is a much fuller piece which this reviewer would also recommend. I would recommend virtually anything the maestro has done and I was very pleased to recently learn that Mr. budd is working with Robin Guthrie once again

I have to echo my suprise at the length of this CD. A little over 30 mins in length BUT what a 30 mins. Budd at his best and some extraordinarily beautiful music has been made.

It is difficult to pick apart the exact contributions but the record follows a minimalist approach which gradually develops over the length of the record. It's typical Budd but definitely in his top 5 releases. Shame it's not mid-price.

The music in this album is very lovely but the album is far too short for the price. Be warned and be well. I gave it three stars but I could have given it anything. Try 'Abandoned Cities' if you wish to explore Budd's talent.

HASH(0xa8329354) out of 5 stars 3 Pianos Too Short 17 April 2000
By S. Lindow - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
After listening to Music for 3 Pianos, I found I wanted more. It's disappointingly too short. The moods created are not as synthy as found on Lovely Thunder or White Arcades, nor are they as upbeat as found on Luxa or Glyph. "La Muchacha De Los Suenos Dorados" is my favorite. Is is haunting and glowing and makes me think of a very large blue glass chandelier that is pulsating like a jellyfish. If you like the music of Erik Satie or the early piano of Roger Eno, or even John Field, you'll like this.

HASH(0x9857a834) out of 5 stars the fog took us away 8 Dec. 2003

The only negative thing about this record is its short length! Its awash with beautiful precise melodies which envoke lost feelings and thoughts. In my view its Budd's best work and one often overlooked. Each song is a gem of a melody and I would encourage anyone who has been moved by Arvo Part et al to check this out. I consistently give it to friends who say that they have been really affected by it. A money back garuantee if you want one!!!

HASH(0x9979d024) out of 5 stars A Hidden Treasure 30 April 2007
By S. E. Vogiatzis - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This CD came to my attention because of Harold Budd's participation. Already into his previous works, I was searching for ambient gems, inevitably based on the sound of "The Pearl".

Music for 3 pianos was a truly compensating discovery. It is music as music should be: A small apocalypse to the senses. Sometimes I listen to this wonderful composition late at night and I find myself deeply sunk in memories, scenes from the past pass through my eyes. The power of this recording is almost psychoanalytic. It is simply wonderful, and as it happens with every wonderful thing, does not last for long.

Do try this - short in duration - apocalypse!
HASH(0x9a5e21b0) out of 5 stars Very calming and relaxing CD 8 Aug. 2013
By Mike Murphy - Published on Amazon.com

'Music for Three Pianos' is a very calming and relaxing CD. I don't really consider it an 'ambient' CD in the Brian Eno & Harold Budd tradition; the tracks have more of a modern, classical music feel to me. The CD cover indicates that the performers are Harold Budd, Ruben Garcia and Daniel Lentz and the inside cover indicates that all compositions and performances are by these 3 same individuals.

The tracks include:

1. Pulse, Pause, Repeat 4:15
2. La Muchacha de los Suenos Dorados 4:38
3. Iris 2:37
4. Somos Tres 2:33
5. The Messenger 3:06
6. La Casa Bruja 4:38

Though only about 21 minutes of music are on this CD, the music is original and beautiful --- I'm glad to have this CD in my collection.

HASH(0x991050a8) out of 5 stars Ambient Beauty 24 Oct. 2001

A beautiful series of compositions, stripped to their essentials. Haunting and mesmeric, the tracks on this album are much more than 'background music'. On the contrary, they steal the listener away into an imaginary world.
