What a fabulous book! Full of black and white photos over the years 1880-1950. There are lots of interesting facts accompanying each photo. Is there really a time capsule in the blue whale? How much did it cost to have Dippy the diplodocus made? There are photos of people as well as the exhibits over the years and an insight into the history of the museum. How do you get an elephant out of the door when his ears are too big? The sad destruction of the herbarium due to bombing in the second world war and the burying of whales in the garden... A brilliant book and I would love to know if another volume 1950 and beyond will be produced?
