5.0 out of 5 stars Really a good read. Another success by one of my favorite authors, albeit under a new name.... 19 May 2017

This is a brand new book in a brand new series by an author I've enjoyed for several years. I won't reveal her name--that's up to her to do if she wants to. A young woman who does not know she is a witch finds herself in a magical land filled with magical beings. She was there as a child, but a trauma made her leave and never return. She's not doing well physically or emotionally until she finds out who and what she really is and starts to accept her magic. The idea has probably been used before, but this is a very appealing version of it, with good characterization, a good plot, NEW mystical beings, and close family relationships. The writing is good, too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun New witch in Magicland once again 22 May 2017
By Amazon Customer Meg, Atlanta - Published on Amazon.com

The concept has been done over and over, yet this one has a light hearted and easy way about it. There are useless characters like Cheryl and Alistair, but the rest are all valid and colorful. I wanted to see what was next.
Favorite part unique to this book by this author were the butterfly trees.
Good enough to warrant trying book 2!
Let's Hope Cassie nd Luca get more time as well as Stanley.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great new series 2 Jun. 2017
By H. Hill - Published on Amazon.com

This is a fun new series. Cassia Winter and her Gran are witches whose job is to police the town of Brimstone. Brimstone is a magical town where creatures such as witches, werewolves and fairies live. Gran and Cassia are involved in this book in solving the murder of a werewolf. I really enjoyed reading about Brimstone and all the inhabitants as well as Gran and Cassia and their familiars, Stanley and Oliver. I'm looking forward to more books in the series.
4.0 out of 5 stars A twitch of magic 28 May 2017
By Manie Kilian - Published on Amazon.com

A twitch of magic can go very far. Cassia forgot she was a witch. In fact, she forgot so much that she was willing to stay in a gray compartment, work at a soul sapping job and go out with Mr. Average (i.e. Alastair) with his bleak self interest and controlling ways.
Small wonder Cassia developed ulcers and poor Stanley started pining away.
Cassia's future looked gray. That is until Gran took her back to Brimstone and Cassia realised what she was missing. And she discovered that she cared enough to find out why a werewolf got murdered.
A lovely, gentle fantasy suitable from middle grade and upwards. The Brimstone witches series certainly looks like a winning series that ought to gather many dewy eyed followers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good of its kind 26 May 2017
By Grandma - Published on Amazon.com

I enjoyed this sweet little cozy. Its premise is a familiar one--unhappy young woman discovers she's really supernatural and finds happiness solving supernatural crimes. However, while the premise isn't new, it's done with flair and decent writing skills, and our heroine and her sidekicks are likable. The mystery was a bit challenging and you suspect the answer about the time the protagonist does. I am planning to read any sequels.
