To the best of my knowledge only two people have benn mad enough, or brave enough, to take on that challenge. More recently Steve Perry, who backpacked his way round them for charity, in Ithink, 2003. But Martin Moran was the first.
The book is well written, clear, concise and is at times very evocative of the Highlands for which Martin clearly has a deep and profound love for. He comes across as a throughly nice chap too, and having met him - I went on one of his Cuillin courses (of whic I can highly recommend - martin Moran Mountaineering.) I can can confirm that he is indeed, a throughly nice chap!
My favourite picture in this new edition is the superb one of a single red coated figur making their way up an ice and rime coated Inaccesible Pinnacle, free climbing it too. He confirms that he had somehow left most of the climbing gear behind. He climbed it free and then did a classic abseil off t'other side. he recounted it in a quite nonchalant way too. We were in the mini bus at the time and somebody had asked him about the picture. We had all seen and been up the Inn Pinn in summer conditions and sat mouths agog as he casually explained. Such are memories made. Ps, his son Alex is a throughly nice chap too!
