This history is something of a rarity as it deals with the history of a small Ulster parish in detail over 200 years. It is not a standard history text. The author has approached his subject with a genuine interest and enthusiasm for the people and events of this small parish. He succeeds in leading his reader into their world. Set against the unfolding backdrop of Irish history, it is at once a narritave of its time as well as an absorbing story of real people and their lives over the period. You do not need any prior knowledge of the parish to enjoy the book. It has been diligently researched by the author and written in an easy style which belies the depth of research undertaken and keeps the interest high. Possibly not an obvious first choice for readers of Irish social history , but one which constantly rewards the reader as you get to know the parish and its people.
