Me & Mr. Jones is listed as a romantic thriller, and Lindsay Marie Miller really delivered on the thriller part! If you like lots of action and suspense, then you will definitely want to get this book! It was fast paced, kept me on the edge of my seat, and left me with a massive book hangover!

The characters were complex and at times confusing, especially the men. Cabel is a hot psychology professor with a lot of secrets. Finley is a shy psychology student with heavy baggage from the past. They are attracted to each other from the instant they meet, but they soon discover that a relationship is impossible when they show up for the first day of psychology class and discover they are student and teacher, not peers. Will Cabel and Finley be able to avoid temptation? Will they give in to forbidden romance and risk everything they've both worked so hard for? Who is trying to kill them both, and why?

This was my first book by Lindsay Marie Miller, and I was totally mesmerized from the first chapters! As soon as I was finished, I hurried to download the second book, Mr. Jones & Me. I can't wait to see what else Lindsay Marie Miller has written!

Finley O’Connell is a freshman in college. She is shy and doesn’t like attention, but she soon draws it from her new teacher Cabel Jones. He is only twenty five and Finley is attracted to him, but unfortunately they can’t be together. Then something horrible happens and the two are thrown together in the middle of nowhere.
I think this was a well written story, maybe a little short, I would have liked if it was longer. Both characters were well developed and I enjoyed the story. Finley was a good character and I believed the chemistry between her and Cabel.

HASH(0x9a25460c) out of 5 stars Book for a rainy day 17 Oct. 2015
By Ailyn Koay - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
The book for given to me by the author for a fair review.
Finley O'Connell is nineteen, off to college to study psychology. When she met a cute guy in college who was kind to her, she was grateful, but felt compelled to run. It is no surprise that Finley has issues with guys, and you can quickly suss out why. It does not help when the new professor, Cable Jones, young and successful teacher at mere age of 25 (apparently) takes an interest in Finley. Things suddenly got weird, it appears that our charismatic teacher has something to hide.

A lot of running later, some history of Cabel Jones pop up, but that also meant that more conflict between the two. Unsure what to do, Finley pulls away and tries to make her life back to normal. I admire Finley for her determination to succeed and be independent, much to Cabel's chagrin. The story moves from one scene to another, testing each other's commitment to the relationship with shaky footing.

Not sure if that girl is borderline paranoia, but given her past issues, it is understandable. This is your run- in- the- mill new adult love story, with some suspense and a lot of conflict. It was enjoyable if you like a feisty girl. I was hoping more of a psychology front, or possibly a more manipulative boyfriend, but Cabel has been a sweet guy. Totally understand why Finley freaks out sometimes.

Overall, if you like drama and conflict, Finley and Cabel's story is for you. Although I wish that Finley has friends or someone to fall back on. For a short story, it is acceptable. This book seem to have an unfinished business, I would like to follow up on that one day.
HASH(0x9b9046d0) out of 5 stars A few missed opprotunities 9 Jan. 2016

I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affected my opinion of the book, or the content of my review.

I am not a fan of New Adult Fiction. It's not my cup of tea. I find them to be full of tropes that I don't find progress character development or plot lines. New Adult books do have sexual scenes in them, but that doesn't bother me too much as I am a mature adult and candle handle it. I tried not letting my feelings for New Adult novels conflict with reading this book.

The synopsis made me think there would be more of a mystery story then about a young woman pining for a man. Unfortunately, that did not happen. This book fell into the New Adult book formula pretty quickly. There was insta-love. Major insta-love. There was a part when Finley is arguing with Cabel days into their love affair, and she says she knows him and how he is. Later in the book, Cabel is cooking, and Finely says she didn't know Cabel liked to cook. If you knew someone well, that might be one of the first things you find out about someone. Another aspect about New Adult novels I don't like is the repetitiveness that comes a long with physical descriptors of the characters. This is usually done with the male love interest, and I understand why that literary device is used, but it gets old quick. I lost count of how many times Cabel's blue eyes were described.

My biggest disappointment with this book was that a promising plot was quickly dropped, and the story became all about the relationship between Finley and Cabel. Finley is a psychology major, and Cabel is a psychology professor. There were so many chances for both of them to dive into each other's mind and their own minds, but that didn't really happen. I don't think this is a spoiler, but towards the beginning of the book, Finley's psychology experiment is interrupted by people chasing Cabel and shooting at him. This conflict could have continued throughout the novel, but it really didn't. If I read correctly, there will be a sequel to this book, so that conflict could continue there. I hope it does because that aspect of the synopsis really peaked my interest in wanting to read this book.

With all of that being said, I don't think I could give this a fair numerical rating because it would be skewed with my bias against New Adult books. However, I think if you are someone who enjoys new adult books, I think you'd enjoy this too. The mystery aspect, even though short lived, is a nice element to the story to break up some of the focus on the relationship of Finley and Cabel. This book wasn't as sex driven as other new adult books I've read, which is nice. So if you are a bit uneasy about sex, this might be a good book for you to read. I think Twilight: Breaking Dawn had more graphic sex scenes than this book. It is also an easy and fast read. There are a few twists that will keep your interest.

HASH(0x99e20f9c) out of 5 stars Well-written but slightly offsetting 7 Jan. 2016
By Sandra's Book Reviews - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
She met the Golden Boy during a cold rain and was immediately captivated by his beauty and charm. Little did she know that he would be Mr. Jones, her college professor. Oh, how the freshman blushed with embarrassment. Still, her infatuation lingers on for the young 25-year old psychology teacher.

Throughout the semester, Finley continues to run into Mr. Jones, catching his eye with shy, fumbling retreats. She is basically the epitome of the quiet, studious college student, which would relate to many readers.

Strange how it all turns totally Mission Impossible. It was unexpected and just seemed a little offsetting for me. Suddenly, it’s just the two of them, stranded and on the run. Alone, in a cold cabin out in the middle of nowhere—of course, they would get closer. I mean, the two were sharing body heat.

Well-written for the most part, this is a story of a sensual infatuation in the midst of treacherous survival. But for a naïve introvert like Finley, this was all a shocking surprise that only kept on getting worse. It seems Mr. Jones wasn’t what he claimed to be. All of a sudden, the reader is thrust into politics, terrorist groups, and conspiracy theories. What? I liked how this book started, but then about half-way through, it was kind of losing me with its mysterious complexities, the story deviating from the two main characters and going from one harrowing situation to another. Even though it was a fast read, it was still a lot to take in.

I understood the author was going for this political/psychological thriller romance, which might suit some readers, but I just feel that I would’ve enjoyed it better if it was a tad more simplified.
HASH(0x99721744) out of 5 stars A very awesome book cover 7 Mar. 2016
By Tony Parsons - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Finley O'Connell (19, college student, psychology) had enrolled in several college classes.
Professor Cabel Jones (BS, Northwestern University, MS Johns Hopkins University, PhD Clinical Psychology Cornell University), assigned David to be her lab partner. They were to do various experiments.
David did not show up for the next 1 so Professor Cabel Jones stepped in.
An alarm had sounded & the building the 2 were in was being evacuated.

Somehow Finley (waitress) seriously injured her foot.
Dr. Rose later looked at it.

Is there a romance in the air for Finley & Professor Cabel Jones?

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great movie, or a mini TV series. Kind of enjoyed this book also. I will rate it at 4/5 stars.
