An excellent read for every Albion supporter, especially for the 50 plus. Memories will start flooding back. Pity Dave Matthews had such an abrupt retirement.

This is a highly readable and entertaining posthumous autobiography of English professional football's all-time longest serving and much liked kitman Dave Matthews. It is not just a must-read for all Albion fans. I also recommend it to anyone who is interested in English football since 1960. You will learn a lot about how the professional game has changed since 1960 and read all kinds of stories and anecdotes from dozens of clubs, players and managers - a lot of them hilarious. We can't expect to see his kind of long service again.
I'd give this 5, but the editing only warrants a very good 4: some of the chapters and paragraphs could have been divided up better. But don't let that put you off. The content is unique and priceless. And Dave comes across as a lovely man who was liked by all.

Mundane. It could have been really good, but it never gets down to the nitty-gritty.
