The story is about Ava and her best friend starting over after the horrific death of Ava's parent's-in a new place, where they can escape Ava's past. The first half of the story is a sweet romance between Ava and Seth, love at first sight-two broken people that heal each other with their love. I actually thought that's where the story would lead, and then the twist of not only Ava's past but Seth's as well catching up to them....In a deadly way. This is where not only James the brother you love to hate comes into the picture bringing Ava's nightmares to life, but also Dawson the police officer most affected by Ava's past. I loved the way the author brought in each character, it allowed for each one to be fully developed and made the story very real.
This is an fantastic Suspense/Romance novel and the ending was written as a cliff hanger that makes it clear that Seth and Ava's story is far from over.
What an amazing debut novel! I have had this book sitting in my kindle for some time now. I should have read this one a lot sooner. Based on the book synopsis I went into this expecting a nice sweet romance. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! This romantic thriller had me on the edge of my seat.
This book follows Ava after she endures some devastatingly tragic events. Her and her best friend decided to get in the car with nothing but a change of clothes and never look back. Ava is trying to move on from her past and start a new life but failing miserably. She feels broken beyond repair. But after a chance meeting with Seth she believes her life begins to take a turn for the better. But the past always seems to catch up with you when you least expect it.
This book was full of twist and turns and very well executed. My favorite part about Ava was that she wasn't afraid to be herself. She was not afraid to drop the F bomb and speak her mind. I also loved her best friend Carisa and her absolute no filter bluntness. They made me laugh out loud and I found both characters to be very relatable. And what a total gentlemen Seth was. He was totally swoon worthy. He can protect me any day! I am usually not a fan of short books but the author pulled it off nicely.
Over all this was a great story. So why not 5 stars? There was some grammatical errors and although I did not feel it took away from the story, it was enough to notice. And also it is a major cliff hanger! I have a love/hate with cliffhangers. Luckily in this case the next book is already available in this series.
Seth Carter, was an attorney, but not by choice. His father opened up a law firm when he was born, named Carter and Sons, in the hopes that one day Seth would join him in the law firm. Seth didn't want to be an attorney, but his father, Richard, wouldn't pay for his schooling unless he agreed to become an attorney. Seth agreed, his father was defense attorney, and while in school, Seth decided there was one thing that Richard couldn't decide for him and that was he was going to become a prosecuting attorney. He couldn't join his father's firm. they were all defense attorney's so at least Seth got his way in that respect. He decided to go out and unwind from the busy week he had at work. It was there he noticed Ava, and wondered if he could gain her heart, which she had shut down, as well as her trust.
This is an excellent suspense book, that will keep you on the edge on of your seat, it takes lots of twists and turns, just when you think you figured it all out, there's another curve ball thrown at you. I hope you enjoy this great written book as much as I did.
