Ferrite beads (aka ferrite cores) come in a wide variety of internal diameters, including this 5mm one (so you need to make sure you've got the right size for your diameter of cable). These seem as well made as any others I've seen, including those available from a well-known high-street electronics retailer, but at far less cost.

Ferrite beads are typically used to reduce "EMI" (Electromagnetic Interference) and "RFI" (Radio Frequency Interference) from cables. Typically useful for suppressing unwanted noise being picked up on (or transmitted by) mains, power supply, computer, audio and home-cinema system cables, which can manifest itself as (for example) "drop-outs" in data streams, a "roughness" in sound, and "snow" or "blips" on screens.

Usually best when clipped within an inch or two of the "far end" of a cable, but in extreme cases one at both ends can help in stopping the cable acting as an "aerial": Sometimes, using a much larger diameter ferrite with the cable wound through the core two or more times can have an even better suppression effect.

For those suffering from electromagnetic and/or radio frequency interference, my motto is to buy plenty and use in abundance; they can raise performance quite dramatically in some cases, and at this price they're cheap enough to warrant trying. Curing EMI/RFI is not an exact science, and whilst these worked well for me, there're no absolute guarantees these will cure your own, specific interference problem(s).

I was getting some electrical hum on some cables going to speakers either side of my TV. Having long wondered why some cables have funny nodules, and reading that they remove interference, I bought these on the basis that if they didn't work then I hadn't lost much. However, kind reader, I can inform you that they do work - like a charm. I am now tempted to put nodules on every cable in the house - just in case!

As long as your cable is the right size they work well.

No more interference for my USB 3.0 cable or desktop Teufel speakers.

used it on on my dash cam wire because the 5v 1amp switch mode power supply is noisey and it interferes with some of the fm frequencies and these just cut out some of the high frequency interference. so because most of the wire is under the dash i used the whole pack lol but done the job

Good ferrites . . . . it would be have been better if there had been the full ten, rather than the nine that arrived in an undamaged parcel. Normally stuff from Sourcingmap is absolutely fine, but there are *very occasional* QC glitches.
