I've got the original but it's scratched a little so thought I'd replace it with this re-issue. I love this album - I think it's Eek a Mouse's best. Love the songs Hitler and Struggle. The rest are good too.
The re-issue sounds digital and I'd be surprised if it wasn't. It sounds compressed in comparison to the original and the treble doesn't have the air of the original. it's not bad but it's missing that analogue magic. It's a nice clean pressing and it's quite cheap so if you haven't got an original it is worth buying. it's a great album, the basslines are fantastic. His lyrics are genius. Witty but poignant. Some may find his style of singing perculiar or annoying but I find some of his songs are quite sad often citing hardships growing up or friends being killed.

HASH(0x8de14948) out of 5 stars The best one! 28 Jan. 2012

If you don't love the mouse man, don't bother. This fellow is certainly unique. His combination of Jamaican scat, with sometimes opera-ish offerings, combined with a very catchy bass line and melodies that beg for content. His offerings are in Patois frequently, so get used to Jamaican!

The Mouse & the man is another album in which EEK-A-MOUSE displays his signature style and Roots Reggae Rhythms. Great album.

HASH(0x8deb933c) out of 5 stars Now This Is The True Eek-a-Mouse, For Sure. 9 Oct. 2005

2 thumbs up for this CD. I have some of the songs on this CD, but I have to get the rest. Eek-a-Mouse best stuff was in the 80's, but when he got into the 90's, to me he flopped hard. His sound and music dissappeared. This new stuff he put out is not the same and it's not even worth listening to. Although, he totally changed his sound and lyrics, he still (on his 80's CD's) to me is a legend. Marlon

HASH(0x8e2d55a8) out of 5 stars This CD really gives me a good laugh 29 Oct. 2005

All the songs sound the same. And that is what is so funny about it and that's also the reason I do not rate it 1 star. If you want quality reggae, then you should listen to Beef, Bob Marley, Johnny Nash or Jimmy Cliff.

But I must say that I am not quickly satisfied. You really must not listen to this CD after you have listened to Gentle Giant's "Acquiring the taste"...
