Product Description

Mott The Hoople - Under Review is a 90 minute documentary film charting the career and music of one of Rock music s most influential yet all too often neglected bands. Despite being championed by many of modern culture s coolest names - from David Bowie and Morrissey to the Clash and the Sex Pistols (not forgetting Barry Manilow covering an Ian Hunter tune!) - until now this extraordinary group has rarely had the recognition it deserves. FEATURES INCLUDE Historical musical performances re-assessed by our panel of esteemed experts Obscure footage, rare interviews and obscure photographs Never previously seen tour film from the private collection of Mott s keyboard wizard Morgan Fischer Review, commentary, critique and insight from; Morgan Fisher - the man behind the unique keyboard sound that the band achieved; Mick Jones - Clash guitarist/co-songwriter, and major league MTH fan; Tony Platt and Mick Glossop - Mott The Hoople producers/engineers; Kris Needs - legendary music journalist (NME, Zig-Zag, Mojo) who set up the original Mott The Hoople fan club in 1972; Nicky Horne - former Radio One and Capital Radio DJ and colleague of the group; John Robb - Music Journalist and Author - and many others.

on this page is a review of the DVd in question and what Billy says is right, but there are three things that become obvious from this dvd, 1. is that Mott the Hoople were as anyone with taste will tell you a tremendous influence on music both here and in the States and are too often overlooked, 2. That Morgan Fisher is a tremendously nice chap and 3. That out there, locked in a vault are hours and hours of live Mott the Hoople concert movies (only glimpsed here) that have never been released! What are the people who own all this archive footage waiting for? A second coming? Get it released fool before we all die! Let the the wires rock you'll make a fortune!

This dvd is a work of art. Mott the hoople are an old rock group, and without them I can safely say that the face of rock music today would be a lot different. I'm twenty one, so i'm not exactly ancient, but I am a great fan of the history of rock and roll! It's interesting and even exciting to find out where your favourite genre of music came from. Detailed, well spoken and well explained, this dvd is recommended for anyone who likes Mott the Hoople, or even anyone who just wants to learn more about the rock scene in the 60's.

Having been 'involved' with MTH since the early 70's watching this DVD made me smile. Loads of interesting references and historical information for fans and generally fun to watch but an interview with a member of the band would have lent authenticity. Yes, I know Morgan was in the band for a while but he had his own agenda. A worthwhile addition to a collection but I would suggest Ian Hunter's Diary of a Rock Star as more accurate and witty. Stan Tippins their tour manager (and former lead singer) has always threatened to write his memoirs - the time has come Stan! Ian Hunter still rocks - go and see him live.

They were great but survived to short a period and the history of the group itself has been told many times before and although if your a fan its a must have theres nothing new here.
