5.0 out of 5 stars phone 5 Jan. 2013

This is the fourth pebl owned by my wife and I. They are great little phones, and we've had no problems with any of ours. We just wore them out, or in my wife's case, dropped them when drunk. This doesn't help longevity. By the way, when are Amazon going to pay their f***ing taxes?

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Little Phone, But... 26 July 2013
By A. Webb

I love the color and size of this phone. I ordered mine because I wanted a flip phone rather than go through all the "butt dialing" my flat phone was doing while I was unaware. And.. I love everything about this phone; it's solid and heavy and I like that the casing is not slippery. It stays where I put it.

The one thing I do not like about this phone, and the thing which led me to buy a different phone, is the number keypad. The letters and numbers are not delineated into specific keys which you can clearly push and I found it very confusing about where the numbers were actually located on the keypad. There are only thin lines "separating" each key from the next one and numbers even share lines. I was forever pushing the wrong number or letter and deleting them in order to find the right one. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer individual keys clearly marked out for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great little phone 8 Jun. 2012

Unusual colour, neat, came well packaged and with every bit of information I would need. Probably does more than I need it to do but that's OK, easy to use and well designed.

By Roger Sharp VINE VOICE

Motorola's CXD team in Seoul, Korea set out to create a luxurious must-have phone, and they used their location for inspiration. Seoul is one of the world's most technologically-connected cities, where people pride themselves on having the most advanced products. It is a place where more is clearly more. But, the designers led by Yoon Ho Choi and Kio Lee decided to go for less.
They changed everything they did and embraced a minimalist aesthetic. They started going to bars called Buddha and Zen. They transformed their eating and shopping habits, hanging out in Seoul's Apkujong area where the high-end boutiques and restaurants are located. The team even took over a special room at the design studio, moving out all the existing furniture.
The idea behind the PEBL was to create something that tied purity of expression to a memorable experience for the user. Because a cell phone is so small and intimate, the designers saw it as the perfect medium to do that. They thought about being kids and finding a stone worn smooth by water. They vividly remembered picking it up, feeling its weight in the hand. They wanted to create something that powerful and evocative, something that was a pleasure to hold.
Small and made from solid aluminum, the prototype PEBL had a weight that just felt right. Holding it was all it took to get everyone on board. Only then did the team set about translating a pure, simple concept into a working phone filled with technology - without losing what made it so alluring.
The project moved to Chicago. Designers and engineers had to work closely to realize the PEBL without compromising the qualities of the phone that everyone loved. That was a sacrifice no one was willing to make.
