It works perfectly after several months of owning it. It's always updated to the latest Android version nice and early.
I still scanned the price for the Nexus 6 and having missed out when google mistakenly offered them up for sale on their website for £300 for 12 hours I vowed that if the price dropped I'd treat myself now that the quality control issues had been sorted.
The price on Amazon dropped to £335 so the deal was done and I ordered one in blue. It arrived a couple of days later.
I've had it a week and can't fault it, there's nothing to not love.
I love the size of it, It is a beast. A very usable beast. I have an iBlason case which increases the size of it slightly but still that isn't a problem and my pride and joy is kept that little bit safer.
All the obvious advantages of owning a Nexus are still a bonus. The quickest operating system updates, the purist form of Android and an excellent quality product.
I know the newest Nexus phones will be released soon but I'm in no rush to own one now because I can take my time and enjoy using my superb 6 and when all the issues have been found and rectified with the new Nexus phones then maybe that'll be the time to upgrade...........
I'm not going to mention the specific specs of this excellent phone because you should have a look at Techradar or Android central if you're not sure if this phone cuts the mustard and make up your own mind. I think it does that's why I bought one...........
The software is well reviewed elsewhere, and may have changed by the time you read this: having experienced TouchWiz in various incarnations, it just feels like so much cruft that has been cleared away. It would take a lot to pry me away from vanilla Android. The fast charge is really useful, and has saved more than once when I've realised in the morning that I forgot to charge my phone overnight - from almost empty to enough to last the day in the time it takes to get showered and dressed. Performance has been good for any browser or Play Store games I've found.
I do have a couple foibles. I find it much harder to find the side buttons in the dark now they've been moved from the corner to halfway down the phone. The power button has a little ridged texture to it which helps a bit, but I frequently find myself turning the screen off when I want to change the volume and vice versa. On the bright side, I don't now nudge them by accident when holding the phone in landscape.
Perhaps more significantly, the screen colours go well beyond over-egging the pudding. This looks pretty great for the vibrant block colours of Android's 'material design' and such, but is noticeably peculiar in regular media (sometimes to positive effect, but anything already close to saturation e.g. music concert videos displays visible clipping) and would be unusable if you needed e.g. to review photography. Brightness is fairly good, I've no problem outdoors at maximum brightness or a little below, and the brightness comes right down for e.g. Kindle reading in bed without waking my partner. Again, though, there is a definite red-orange tinge at low brightness.
This is definitely a flaw, but you can consider whether this is something you can live with: if the bulk of your consumption is textual or diagrammatic, and/or if you're fine with Facebook photos and YouTube videos being a little extra vivid.
Yes it is very big but doesn't feel as big today as it would've on release now big phones are more normal and bigger is always better for content and use in my opinion just make sure your clothes can handle it.
