Drawbacks: its gps does not wok any good, at the beginning was very nice but the system was getting old so fast while I was downloading programs and no I cannot use it as a navigator. The headset was nice 'till failed two weeks after buying it.The battery is not god but I have a lot of apps which run even after closing them so I am sure it will last the whole day with people less demanding. The Facebook app is terrible for the battery life and I have had to use facebook trough the Opera browser,Skype it is so heavy for the phone so the system crashes if I trynna use this program and hear music at the same time, though I can use it to call abroad with no problems.I do not like at all the calendar which was the only one feature linked to the old mobiles times before apple and Androids.
However, it does too much for its price. It is provided with android 2.2 and is able to run lots of program, angry birds, bar scanner, opera browser, my bus Edinburgh, games and so on. Each of them runs properly and it doesn't tell you please move the program to the sd card 'cause its 2gb internal memory can cope with a demanding user. I bought a 16mb sd so is plenty of memory for songs videos and films, btw its gps is disappointing bit the hotspot works perfectly and quickly, and it really provides me internet for my netbook everywhere (if I have the charger with me) so if you are thinking to buy a htc wildfire no way! take that one and you will be able to play angry birds. The phone in fact works sometimes slowly but I should say that in part is my fault as I have downloaded more programs upon it than to my laptop and the poor phone in fact does 80 % out of I would do with a proper Android top frame or I-phone.
I bought it as my old phone a Samsung jet broken down 4 month before the finish of my contract so it was meant as a temporal spare phone until I can get a new one trough my mobile provider but its quality has given me reason to avoid the change at least for this year, I was given more than I expected what else can you say for something nowadays.
In every respect except one I think this is a brilliant piece of kit and certainly a great rival for the overpriced i-phone.
The one area that lets it down is its battery life.
From new, and in standby mode with all its other bits turned off (wireless, etc), and in battery saver mode, it has only ever able to sustain around two and a half days of power. Recently, that has gone down to a day and half.
By any comparison, this is very poor. Such a pity then, with a decent battery it might have been a world beater.
2 Year update: Battery life is as bad as ever plus, like many others, I have experienced earpiece failure just as the phone came out of guarantee. It costs an arm and a leg to repair, though the part can be bought for a couple of pounds. I'm convinced, too, that the battery indicator is giving false readings. I shall to replace this phone soon, I have no confidence in its build quality, and altogether I think it was a bad buy.
However, Motorola is not satisfying at all. Their software team is so bad that created the stupid BLUR thing and it's useless but make your phone lag. And I believe the latest android you can get from them is gingerbread (2.3) while it is obviously capable to run ICS(4.0)+. The repair service is also dissappointing. I sent it back 4 times and the only problem I had was still not resolved. I have already sold this phone after 1 year usage.
But I would still recommend this phone because I think it is very rare to have the same problem as I did because I purchased very early and they made some changes on hardware and probably resolved the problem during manufacturing. Also the phone can be brilliant if you flash a CyanogenMod or some other better ROMs and I definitely missed the waterproof feature on my new HTC. Sorry I won't recommend any phone from the other manufacturer which makes brilliant waterproof smartphones just because the country it comes from. LOL!!
