fits solidly to the handlebars or top tube if you have a narrower tube (steel frame etc). Holds still as far as the bottom bal joint is concerned but depending how you have it mounted the top ball joint can move about a bit over rough surfaces / bumps etc. Can be overcome by mounting the base at an angle where the top ball joint is facing down as much as possible it's correct for viewing (i.e. so bumps can't move the device down any further). Solid mount though, don't worry about the Garmin popping out.

I have an ETREX 20 and it fits this like a dream.....however the etrex can on bumps move the position of the central bar or unclip itself from the top mount that the garmin slides into.

SOLUTION :-
I fixed the mount to the headset on the bike hand tight using the clamp. I then super glued the top mount to the ball arm and then refitted to the bike using the screw thread.
It fixes the movement, stops the garmin falling out and still ment that the bottom ball bracket is flexible and able to be removed or positioned easily.

In my desire to secure this to my MTB oversize handlebars I managed to overtighten one screw and crack the casing at the point where it touches the screw head - my own fault entirely, but I still knock a star off because this really is brittle plastic, no give to it whatsoever. However, even with this crack the mount was still perfectly secure on the bike and I was happy to mount my etrex 30x to it and remove the unit without any problems (getting the GPS unit off the mount requires gentle pressure and technique, not brute force and yes, we females can manage it quite readily). Then I put my bike on the train, in the guard's van on the upright mount, and 16 minutes of my bike being swung around resulted in the previously cracked but usable side of the mount being entirely broken and the mount swinging on the handlebar like a pendulum. I had my pocket screwdriver so managed to tighten the one working screw even further, amazingly it did not crack the plastic on this side and the mount worked just fine, complete with GPS in place, for 44 miles of gentle off-road, but now needs to go in the bin because I won't to trust to luck that it will continue to remain in place. Will I buy another - yes. No doubt it was the fact that I was fitting to oversize bars, with the result that the two sides of the clamp weren't flush to the bars, that caused the problem, and perhaps if I had not used the protective rubber strip I would have increased the chances of the mount fitting more securely, but lesson learned now. Yes, your GPS sits up highly but it is secure, I cannot see why or how the unit can bounce out of the mount and the ball joint allows for easy angling. A good bit of kit, just don't force the screws.

I've actually using this on a bicycle and it fits very well and holds my Etrex20x very securely. It's well made and reassuringly clunky and I have complete confidence in it. In my opinion it's well worth buying.

My garmin fitted the mount perfectly, unfortunately it snapped at the bottom second time out. It has to be tight for it to fit correctly to the handlebars. Whether I had it to tight I am not sure

Not used it in anger yet as I am currently waiting to load a decent set of mapping software to my Garmin.
