I bought this phone on 14-Jul-14 and received it on 16-Jul-14, I used the phone without incident until 29-Jul-15 when the phone stopped displaying, the screen went blank, I went online and tried various restarts of the phone but none of these worked and I was advised to return the device to the Motorola Repair Centre which I did on the same day. On 04-Aug-15 I was advised that the phone was out of warranty (by 15 days) and that I would have to pay to have the phone repaired, and to expect a quote via email.
Really...? The phone was otherwise in mint condition, it had a screen protector and was kept in a protective case, it had been lovingly looked after and had clearly failed due to Motorola's faulty software. What really stinks is Motorola hiding behind the phone being 15 days outside of their 12 month warranty period, would you choose to do business with such a company...? Not me, my replacement phone will not be from Motorola. I strongly recommend that you avoid purchasing any devices from Motorola, shame on them...!!!

This is an excellent phone with a bright screen and responsive to the touch. Really cannot find anything to fault the phone and the ability to use different colours and styles of back is a nice touch. It represents excellent value for money, is quite stylish looking and has a good battery life. As others have said you will need to buy (or use an old) charger as it only comes with a USB cable. Have only given 4 stars because of comment below - not really a criticism of the phone.
Note of caution: If you buy this phone from Amazon, the invoice/receipt will NOT show the phone's IMEI number and without that many insurers will not cover you as I found to my considerable annoyance. Amazon are apologetic about this if you query it but are apparently unable/unwilling to do anything about it. If you buy from someone else and want to insure it I recommend that you check in advance that the phone's IMEI number will be recorded on the receipt or you may not be able to buy insurance.

I love mine. I've had it since July and apart from some initial SD card disconnect issues, as is well documented, it's been great. I'm not sure if a different SD card (SanDisk SDSDQU-032G-FFP) or the Android update fixed it first, but it is no longer an issue. When my daughter broke her phone, the replacement decision was a no-brainer. However, when setting it up for her I was unable to select and drag icons reliably from the top row for deletion. The icon just stayed still and the app opened. That sort of went away, but the Moto was on "probation". Finally, a few days later, it went all flaky and unpredictable and it made phone calls while you were texting. It's gone back now (gotta love the Amazon simplicity) and a new one has been ordered. Fingers crossed it was a rogue example. I still think the value for money is outstanding.
I'll report back on the "best of three" result.

My Galaxy 2 was going through battery power rapidly and even a new battery didn't cure it, so after reading all the reviews I settled on the Moto G. It was the best decision in a long time. My old Micro SD card failed to work, so I bought a new 16GB one for extra memory and to date it has worked faultlessly! The phone has Android KitKat, is very responsive and has a very clear and bright screen, good sound and fantastic battery life. WiFi connection is positive, GPS much faster and more accurate than the Galaxy and received phone signal seems stronger. A Motorola App was downloaded onto the old phone which transferred all my telephone numbers and WiFi Info over to the new phone automatically.
The phone comes without any extras and only basic information, so look up the instructions on the Motorola Web site and do not insert an SD Card unless the phone is switched off!

I have a LG G3 and a Nexus 5. I rub custom roms and like to test and play with my devices. I kept reading about the Moto G and had a to test it for myself. It's amazing for the price and I am an instant fan. It works so flawlessly stock without any custom roms or mods. The battery with me playing on it constantly today is amazing. The screen I'm very surprised by. The 720p display is great for general messaging, browsing and videos.
I'm not a big camera guy and my main phones have better cameras for that purpose I don't use things like NFC. I got a 32gb sd card for this and put a couple of videos and music on it for testing purposes and it works flawless.
This is a great phone for anyone on a budget, looking for a second phone and anyone who doesn't use or newer extensive games or the best screen or power. I would easily use this phone as a main and this has really changed my mind on how I will purchase phones in the future.

I bought the Moto G 4G to replace my Moto Defy Mini, which was my first smart phone. The Defy Mini gave me all the facilities I personally need on a phone but it was a bit slow. The difference provided by the Moto G 4G, which I use in 3G mode as I don't have a 4G contract, is incredible! A very fast processor, good storage, especially with an added cheap and cheerful 32Gb SD card, the latest Android software and a screen size that is good to view without being too big, thus keeping the phone to a size that is comfortable in my pocket.
I am so happy with this phone that I have even started doing my online banking on it, which is handy when I am away from my home computer. Given this phone is about a quarter of the price of a iPhone or Samsung galaxy and offers great functionality I would happily recommend it.
