Moths Ate My "Doctor Who" Scarf Audio CD – Audiobook, 30 July 2007
This is a two-part BBC 7 adaptation of Toby Hadoke's sensational stand-up show about Doctor Who, fandom and one man's lifelong obsession. 'Heartfelt and heroic - likely to do for Daleks and Cybermen what Fever Pitch did for football' William Cook, The Guardian Actor and comedian Toby Hadoke's hilarious and touching one-man show was a huge hit at the Edinburgh Fringe, and his nationwide tour was just as successful. This two-part adaptation, based on the stage show and starring Toby Hadoke, Louise Jameson andwith a cameo by Colin Baker, is a celebration of Doctor Who for fans and novices alike.Toby Hadoke was born to love Doctor Who. To Toby - a shy, weedy kid whose dad had left home - the Doctor was a hero, and the show a lifeline he clung to throughout his childhood. He kept the faith when other boys mocked him, girlfriends dumped him and (worst of all) Doctor Who was cancelled. After living in the closet for 16 years, finally the time has arrived to come out and admit it: yes, he is a Doctor Who fan and proud of it. Climb aboard award-winning comedian Toby Hadoke's TARDIS on a trip through time, charting the rise, fall and rise again of a television legend through his voice-overs and reminiscences. A swift, personal, satirical and razor-sharp comic odyssey from child to man, through obsession, joy and disappointment, this will thrill and delight both hardcore fans and those who wouldn't know a Slitheen from a Silurian.

I must say I'm in Toby Hadoke's Patreon, so I'm biased. I've known his work for a very long time, especially his researches on TV industry people and his moderating duties on the various DVD bonuses. He's up there with the kind of Richard Bignell and Andrew Pixley. And he's also a great comedian to boot, and a fan. In this audiobook we can hear the story of his geeky life, his relationship with family life, bullies, girls, children, and we can relate to it, in a way we couldn't do with anyone else, not even the Doctor him/herself. I'm glad I could finally buy this, and have it in a digital library, a virtually infinite space. The perfect place for a geek to be...

A fantastic comedian, with an incredible knowledge of Dr Who, tells his own story and makes it both parts tragic and funny. Absolute must for geeks out there.

I saw Toby perform an adaptation of his stage show at the recent SFX convention in Rye, Sussex. I have to be honest i wasn't expecting to enjoy it........ boy was i wrong, the man is an utter (sharp witted)genius. The CD takes you through Toby's love for the programme which is self evident and you will feel a pang of recognition when he gets to 'your' era. Having seen the man in action i can safely say you will enjoy it - although be warned if you download it to your i pod and listen to it whilst going to work / school -you WILL laugh out loud and probably attract a few glances, but who cares let them gawpe, let them gape what do we care.......

Content is probably fine, I saw the show and it was really good. Problem is the electronic delivery which requires a load of custom software and its packed with DRM. Essentially you never own what you have paid for, so you cant listen to it where you choose, you can only listen to it because amazon are very very nice and allow you to on the devices they have decided you can use.... how long until its only kindle?
