Product Description

Pushing the boundaries of fear, Mother’s Day is an intense horror from director of Saw II, III, and IV and starring the legendary Rebecca De Morney (The Hand That Rocks The Cradle).

After a bank robbery goes seriously wrong, three sadistic, bloodthirsty, criminal brothers find themselves on the run. Their childhood home seems like the safest place to hide out. But a few things have changed, their mother has been evicted and the house is now occupied by a young couple and their birthday guests. Taken hostage, the new owners and friends are forced to endure a night of blood-drenched hell. Because mother’s coming home to roost and her maternal instincts involve extreme torture and a taste for terror.

This is a remake of a film with the same name made in 1980, the old version was good, the story differs somewhat from the original but has the dame principals. I saw this on the Horror channel and really liked it so I picked it up, picture is good and not a bad price. If you like a film with suspense blood and a good story then this is for you, some good acting too.

This is your typical home abduction movie with a few twists. It is an example of home schooling gone bad. There is a birthday party going on which includes only beautiful young typical movie couples. As they party in the basement during a tornado watch, three bank robbers enter the house thinking they live there. To their surprise, they don't. In keeping with the times, Mom lost the home in a foreclosure.

The threesome includes a badly injured Jonathan 'Johnny' Koffin (Matt O'Leary) who needs immediate medical attention. Rebecca De Mornay arrives shortly as a "Ma Barker" type but with cool, style, and a Hillary hair-do. She leads her other two boys (Patrick John Flueger and Warren Kole)and daughter (Deborah Ann Woll) to treat the humiliated captives in the proper way and to expose their secrets. One of the secrets is what happened to the money the boys were sending home? George (Shawn Ashmore) is working on pitting the the family against itself.

Rebecca De Mornay is the thinking man's David Hess. The methodical manner in which she conducts herself elevates her to home break-in cult status. On the home abduction scale, this film had better than average acting, writing, dialouge, and directing. They could have gone with a more modern sound track. 5 star home abduction genre film for twisted minds.

Blood, torture, f-bombs, sexual situation, no nudity (Briana Evigan bra / panties strip)

Mmm another remake, another slasher remake. This one is fantastically brutal and cruel. Not an easy watch but it's an 18 for a reason. And that x man is HOT. Also Rebecca De Mornay is magnificent as the matriarch of this warped brood. A hugely satisfying torture porn masterpiece. Jaimie King from the My Bloody Valentine remake is immensely impressive as the final, or not in this extreme rare case, girl. Matt O'Leary also scores as the profusely bleeding youngest son. I recommend this stupendously harsh horror to every horror fan.

I really enjoyed this movie, the story is simple but there's a great atmosphere throughout and the acting is very good so you kinda care for the characters; Rebecca De Mornay is on top form, she is terrific in this and much better than everyone else.
Also a quick note about the blu-ray itself, picture and audio quality were both great, definitely worth the purchase.

While the Troma film was goofy in it's wonderfully violent excess, this new version jettisons the broad comedy for a straight horror-thriller. And to well above-average effect. Performances are excellent, and the story is new (with just the basic theme from Troma's film). Atmospheric and tense - and Mother's domineering entrance really does propel the film along. I imported this from the UK because our local Australian-New Zealand release is cropped to 1.78:1. This is the correct 2.35:1 aspect ratio.

This type of film will never have great-actors on board, however the film itself, great acting aside, is----gruesome and often intense.
A bank robbery goes pear-shape, the brothers now on the run head for 'home' not knowing their mother had been evicted.
a young couple, now the owners along with their party guests are about to receive the uninvited brothers into the house.
with one of the brother's injured the ''Mother'' and her daughter are about to join the party, trouble is neither the brothers or the ''Mother'' are in a 'party' mood.
The owners and guests are about to experience 'Hell''
The mother is played by 'Rebecca De Morney' who has played a similar role before in ''The Cradle Will Fall'' ( this role does suit her style )
Not the best ''Horror''film you'll see, however if you enjoy 'sadistic' and sustained violence........it's worth a spin.
