Review

This is one of the best books I have read on over all fitness and increasing your energy level. Easy to read, good information, makes a lot of sense. We some how think we can abuse our bodies, eat junk food, don't exercise, and still think we should feel energized all the time. This book explains how you can feel good and live a healthy, energized life-Suzanne - I'm on the run so the one thing I have to have is Energy. Even though I'm in the fitness world, I still like my ice cream from time to time. Jonny's book made me look at things in a different light and pay attention to why I was getting tired and not able to function all day. Love this book and it's a great one to keep with me to keep me focused!--Stu Henderson--Excellent book, since I've started reading it I haven't been able to stop. It's a reference guide, you don't have to read the chapters in order, the information is presented in an informal language yet very accurated. Many easy tips to follow and encouraging ways to get more energized and achieve your goals of a better and healthier life- Atenadie--To go through life full of energy, with an optimistic mindset is something we all want. This book by Dr Jonny Bowden gives you 150 strategies to get more energy into your life. I enjoyed several of Bowden's other books because they are well written, in language you and I can understand, he makes clear why certain foods, supplements, etc will or will not work for you. This certainly applies to this book. Above all his books are fun to read because he has a nice sense of humour. The book is printed on durable paper, has some nice illustrations and an excellent lay-out. The strategies included in the book include foods and supplements you can take, this information takes up about half of the book. There are shorter sections about exercise, improving your sleep, organizing your living space and how to detoxify your body. Most of the information has a basis in science, with some small excursions into subjects like acupuncture and Feng Shui. All in all this is an excellent and up-to-date guide for anyone interested in health and fitness. --JPunch;If Dr. Jonny Bowden is writing a new book, then I'm reading it! From offering advice on choosing the low-carb diet that's right for you, eating the healthiest foods, making delicious healthy meals, and implementing natural cures, his books have been impacting the diet and nutrition industry for years. This latest offering provides more ammunition for your health arsenal by giving you 150 ways to get energized naturally through a mix of some common sense and practical techniques that entail diet, supplements, exercise, and other non-prescription methods for you toboost your energy; Always an engaging writer who will keep you captivated from page-to-page, Dr. Bowden has delivered yet another winner in his successful Fair Winds Press series of books. --Livin La Vida--I'm on the run so the one thing I have to have is Energy. The bottom line from his research was that energy s a byproduct of the way you live. If you live a healthy, active, optimistic life you will have more energy. And for those of us who are tired of being tired Dr jonny shared some of the tips from his book. Some of his tips for more energy were: 1-get a massage 2-eat healthier foods 3- some supplements can help 4-dance more - live an active lifestyle 5- don t be afraid of coffee 6-it s okay to indulge in the occasional energy drink. He shared some great tips about energy as well as how to live longer and more actively. The book also includes info on: when to workout for the best boost; how relaxation techniques can build stamina and even how to think like a high-energy person. --Women's Running Magazine, April 2009

Prior to reading this informative book, I'd assumed that a nutrient-deficient diet and inadequate sleep would be prime factors contributing to depleted energy levels but as the title states, these were only scratching the surface. Posture, stress and breathing and a host of other elements, I found, are key to attaining or maintaining optimum vitality. Comprehensive and easy to read, I recommend this book for those whose lives are labouring under a fog of fatigue and sub-par performance, both mental and physical.

I bought this book because I'm always tired which means I find it hard to exercise & then sometimes make bad food choices which only make me more sluggish & it's all a vicious cycle so when I bought this I was hoping for some new advise on how to boost my energy.

The book claims to be 'The surprising truth'. There is nothing surprising about the majority of the tips in here. Eat more fibre & protein, drink less alcohol & caffeine, don't add sugar & salt to meals, drink water, exercise, exercise with a friend for motivation, try going to bed earlier, don't look at bright screens before bed. It's all standard healthy living stuff. Then there's the questionable tips such as doing the master cleanse or supplements. There's a lot of research to say that supplements or herbal remedies are placebos & it's a million pound industry keeping us all believing that we need these magic tablets & diets.

Maybe I was expecting too much as I do actually know how to eat well & which exercise is best & yet exercise still makes me tired & miserable as sin so I thought I must be missing something & that there would be some magic key in here to help me find the energy to do it more often but no, my summary is that the majority of this book is standard information. If you know anything about eating well & health I wouldn't bother with this book.

I've just finished reading Dr Jonny's book and I'm soooo disappointed - to have reached the end!! Informative, entertaining (his throw-away asides made me laugh out loud, even the LA references which didn't mean quite so much to a Brit) and truly inspirational are just a few of the words I'd use to describe it... As a recent convert to weight training and healthy eating (8 months in to working out with a personal trainer with fantastic results) I already practice a lot of the things he recommends but this book has given me dozens of ideas to build on what I've already achieved. Now I've read it from cover to cover, I'll be dipping in again and again to keep me on track - and can't wait to put Number 144 to the test!!
