If the vacuum loses suction and stops picking up. Have you emptied and cleaned the canister? See image to left. A blockage is the most likely cause. The key areas to check are:
- Within the handheld unit
- The hose leading from the floorhead
- Within the bush bar, the brush bar can be easily taken out to remove and tangles or blockages. Simply unscrew to release the coloured clip
For Optimal Performance
To maintain suction, the dust canister filter(s) must be cleaned each time the dust canister is emptied.
- Follow steps of ‘emptying the dust canister’ this can be found in the instruction booklet
- Pull out the filter assembly from the dust canister
- Pull the pleated filter out from the back of the filter assembly and remove nay debris or blockages from the filter assembly and clean the pleated filter. Some models also feature an additional foam filter between the cyclone cone and the pleated filter - this should also be removed and cleaned
- Open the clear perspex lid on the filter assembly and remove any debris

Had an issue with first unit not holding charge well, Amazon replaced the item straight away without any hassle. I didn't even need to send the original back until I had received the replacement.
I purchased this vac in December 2014.
It now makes a horrendous noise and gradually topped doing its job... Very disappointing.
When I first tried the vacuum, I had to learn how to get the best results. For example, instead of going back and forth like many other vacuums, it works better if you just go in one direction.
The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because you need to empty it quite often and it has problems with items that are larger than your usual dirt. Since I have Degus and don't want my entire flat being decorated with hay or other items they sometimes throw out of the cage, I always vacuum at least once a day around their cage. However, the vacuum doesn't seem to be able to pick up straws so I need to clean that up beforehand.
However I would recommend this item to people with small flats. It cleanes everyday dirt very effictively but for heavy duty items I would suggest a more powerful suction model that can handle larger dirt.
I know Dysons are meant to be the last word in vacuums but this is less than a quarter of the price and it does the same thing. What's not to like?
We've had Dysons over the years but they're more style over substance IMHO & break down just as quickly as anything made of plastic in China, so despite their grotesquely astronomical price are simply not worth the money, like designer handbags I imagine.
Our 5 year old Panasonic lost suction & we were struck with the problem of replacement. Should we make 'Sir' James Dyson richer than he already is by buying his imported product or go for a punt.
Didn't take long. We did the punt. So we bought a Vax U90-Ma-Re mains vac and this Morphy Richards cordless together at half the price of an equivalent Dyson. New carpet laid in living room & hall. Lots of bits.
It's great, but really only as a backup, as cordless vacuums, despite what Dyson say, are not a patch on mains ones. This Morphy Richards one looks very cool & swish, charges in about 3 hours & packs away in our cloakroom next to the bigger vacuum very nicely.
The swivelling head swerves round corners & underneath furniture very well, the suction is more than adequate & it's easy to empty (which you have to do every time you use it).
I think as a stand-alone vacuum cleaner it's really best suited to a very small house, mobile home, flat etc., rather than a 3 bed detached like ours, or as a backup if somebody spills their crisps on the floor but I'm really pleased with it, as it's very light yet subst6antial, agile, looks cool, the head swivels in an appealing manner when you're swerving round the furniture & has a nice little green light at the front which for some reason pleases me. Recommended.
